I just uploaded a number of updates to BE and the toolbar is no longer visible at the top of the display. However, if you hover over it the various items will appear, then disappear when you move the cursor.

Right click when over the tool bar and deselect 'auto hide'.

I'm having the same issue.

But I'm also having the issue that it's saying my BE is no longer registered.

I sent Clint an email, maybe he'll get back to me in the next day or two.

I cannot reproduce it, I suspect it may be an old .xml file causing the issue.

I had a number of issues in the beta version of the new bar of BE. Clint and I worked back and forth through multiple beta versions of BE to figure out the problem I was having since he couldn't reproduce it. What it boiled down to is I have my theme setup for "classic" windows view and components of the classic view don't support some of the features he was trying to invoke and thus was causing my issues that were similar to what you are describing.

Eventually, he was able to reproduce the problem on a WinXP SP2 machine, but found the issue was fixed with WinXP SP3. I suspect whatever component they fixed in WinXP SP3 didn't get implemented in Win7's classic windows theme. But being able to reproduce the problem in WinXP SP2, he was able to narrow down the problem, fix it, and get me a version that has been working just fine. Note, I'm still using Build 19.9. I have not installed the latest 20.x that's posted on the website. And being he's gone on vacation for the week, I'm not motivated to tempt fate by trying to install it right now either.

On a sidenote, the people he hosts with screwed up his posted files and corrupted a bunch of them. If you go to the website, you'll notice none of the strategy and BIN files are available. He figured this out the day before he went on vacation so the best he could do was pull all the files from the website so at least people wouldn't be downloading corrupted files. And anybody that updates using the web updater, I suspect would also download corrupted files too. So don't update for at least a week to give him a chance to get back set things right...and find a new web host provider.

Hey Chris,

Is there a chance I need to switch from "Classic" view. I am on a Windows 7 platform so I will need some help to figure out what the "Classic" view means.

The only reason you'd be in Classic mode is if you set it up that way. WinXP was the 1st to have kind of a cartoony look to it with BIG buttons for minimize, maximize, and close program. Win7's default improved by making those buttons a little thinner so they don't take up as much room. "Classic" mode makes the windows look like Win98 and Win2k used to. If your windows don't look like that, then you aren't in classic mode.

But to change the theme, just right-click on your desktop and go to personalize and sift around in there to find it.

I guess he's on vacation until Monday the 17th. I'm sure he'll take care of us.

Yep, click on start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore

Image
check the box show more restore points. Now I knew what day I installed the update so luckily a restore point was created the day before and I hadnt installed anything else. Mine now says restore operation, what it does is put windows back to how it was at that point in time.

Heres MS web page http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

Made it worse, now there is no toolbar and no strategy or calibration. Maybe you will have to log in to my PC.

I did that with no results. Autohide was not checked anyway.

Thanks Clint, but I decided to get brave and I removed BE and deleted the directory, then reloaded BE 2012. It worked, and now I see the redesigned toolbar. But what is "teamviewer" and is it different from what Decipha has posted as a sticky that we should use "CrossLoop"? If different, which do you prefer?

That new toolbar and the increased functionality will take a lot to learn and get used to.

temaviewer is better in my opinion. It does the same thing as crossloop but it also allows file transferes and does not require the other user to be there.

Yes the new toolbar is more configurable and yes it take a bit to get use to.
