I have a handful of things I would like changed in EA, after 4 months of heavy use. These are things that I'm constantly tripping over.

For starters, why is it necessary to carry the INJDUTY calculations to 7 digits? Wouldn't 4 be sufficient? The source data is only accurate to 4 digits.

Likewise the DASPOT, AEFUEL, and EFTRFF columns don't need 7 digits either, but I imagine this is more of a strategy definition issue.

I have no use whatever for the HP and TQ columns. Is there a way to turn them off entirely? I would also like to turn off AVG_MPG and DIST at times.

I know I can reorder columns in the data log myself, but (1) the reordering isn't persistent after quitting EA and (2) the UI for reordering columns is tedious as hell - click on column (causing EA to sort by that value), drag column to left edge of display, scroll display horizontally til desired column is on right, repeat until you get it in place, click on ET column to restore chronological order. I'd really, really, really like a better way to do this. Simply making the reordering persistent would be a huge help.

I would love to be able to build and select between "canned" user defined custom chart settings. e.g. one set of data points/scale factors for cold start tuning, another to tweak transient fueling, a third for idle tuning, etc.

Would it be possible to limit the available choices in the custom chart curves to items present in the datalog being displayed? E.g. DESRPM is useless when the datalog contains only DSDRPM, likewise ISCDC and ISCDTY are confusing.

Oh well, that's enough whining for one post. Thanks for letting me gripe.

With the exception of some of the resolution stuff, Clint's going to think I put you up to posting this. I've whined at him a number of times about the order of the columns not being persistent. I too find that quite annoying and the reordering of the columns equally as annoying purely because it is cumbersome.

As for the DESRPM vs DSDRPM and ISCDC vs ISCDTY...those are the same thing. I have no clue why EA has references to DESRPM or ISCDC. I would really prefer it if EA didn't insert columns it isn't developing/populating or importing from the datalog. Likewise, it might be nice at some point to configure all the calculators to point to a specific PID column name vs having EA hard-coded to look for certain things. So if one strategy calls it DESRPM and another DSDRPM, the user can configure EA to know where to look for the data it needs to do what it does.

All good points. I just have not spent the time on EA lately to do this. I will try to get to some of this soon.

Guys, Clint has made some major improvements to EA. I've given some feedback about the changes - I'd like some more fine tuning. But you will be VERY happy with the results when he unleashes them on the world! 8)

As far as the tab management is concerned, what he put together in the beta is nice. You
can select/unselect columns to be visible as well as reorder them. You can even reorder in-mass by CTRL-clicking to select multiple columns to move together. Its far easier than dragging columns in the user interface.

What I haven't tested is how EA handles display of columns that have been ordered in the past, but are not part of the currently loaded datalog(s). I would hope that the only thing visible to the user are columns that can be made visible. Any columns EA has ordered in the past, but are not part of the currently loaded datalog should not be visible. Fortunately us with a QH, we get a select set of payload items, and don't/shouldn't change the list much, if ever. TwEECer users may still frequently have different payload items based on what they are looking at/tuning for.

The only complaint I have is that the column configuration feature is a bit hidden. I'd rather have a button so that other users don't have to know the magic incantation of right-click-on-a-column to summon the power of the new column configuration window. But that, I'm sure, is a simple fix to simply put a button in the interface that calls the same code the right-click option does.
