Re: Am I heading in the right direction / what next?

The H/C/I combo you have is a well matched combo. Just out of curiosity, are you going with stock GT40 heads or aftermarket aluminium versions? If they are stock and off a 96 Explorer 5.0L, they aren't going to be the same as what came on the 93-95 Cobras. SVT took the stock castings and did additio...

Re: How to tell if dashpot preposition is working right?

There's three functions in play here. The Max Preposition is just that...a max. It's not a definer of what the preposition should be. The other two are RPM vs ISC Airflow in Neutral and Drive. I think they are FN841N/D. These are the ones that indicate the desired airflow for a given RPM. And note t...

Re: help with keeping a9p in closed loop

I don't know this first hand, but I've heard from others here on the forum that it was/is common practice for Ford to run trucks Closed Loop all the way to WOT, which saves gas and improves HC/CO emissions, but doesn't give the best performance. The common tweak to truck tunes is enable an Open Loop...

Re: Back to basics (for me!). So once Lambse matches the WB..... Then.....?

If you are using a GUFx-era EEC, then there's also a WOT Fuel function that comes into play when TPS goes above some threshold. Most of us disable the WOT Function since it is only RPM based and doesn't take into account Load. It makes the assumption that Load will be relatively constant through the...

Re: Fuel pump prime time pid?

My old adjustable FPR was the same way. With a fuel gauge connected, I could watch it bleed down in a matter of about 5-10 seconds. And I too had to switch the ignition ON and OFF a few times right before cranking to prime the line. Otherwise cranking took noticeably longer. When I put the 331 in, I...

Re: Closed throttle coasting through parking lot

I tend to agree that bucking and surging usually is related to leanout in fuel. However when it comes to closed throttle creep in 1st gear (manual trans), I find there's often other things at play. The idle control's intent to stabilize RPM often get in the way and cause the bucking by swinging the ...

Re: Trick Flow injectors

...The car starts and runs granted the cranking time before it starts seems quite long... Adjusting the cranking injector PW is where I'd start with this. Re: Trick Flow injectors

The 17# injectors from an 2001 Explorer are high impedance injectors. Fords specs are 11-18 ohms. They ran them at a higher pressure because the fuel system is returnless and they where concerned with fuel boiling in the lines. I never knew that boiling was the reason for that. Nice to finally know...

I can't speak for him, however I suspect the reason he says this is purely out of simplicity and possibly a bit if CYA. If the data is for 55PSI, then obviously the simplest thing to do is set the PSI to 55. However there are side-effects and things that have to be considered when doing this to make...

Unless there's something terribly wrong with the build itself, the capacity is there for the 425cid to WAY out-perform the stock Explorer 302. I ran a stock 97 Explorer with GT40p heads in my Ranger for many years. And it ran great!

What I use is a software called Acronis True Image Backup. This software, booted from a CD, will allow you to make backups of HDs at the sector-by-sector level. So when things go awry and you need to get back to a good place, you can restore the entire HD (including Master boot record, partition tab...

Re: Halp! EEC IV CEL Flash that makes NO SENSE

If it never happens on Closed Throttle, then that could be a bad Throttle Position Sensor(TPS). Although every time I've ever had a TPS go bad on me, it's always been the Closed Throttle condition that went bad and turned on the CEL thus the CEL went out as soon as I hit the throttle again and might...

Re: Halp! EEC IV CEL Flash that makes NO SENSE

I remember have a similar, but different, issue a few years ago. In my case, the CEL would dimmly glow. It wasn't flashing or flickering, but it would intermittently glow and when it glowed, there was a chance that it would start surging the engine or watchdog-restarting the processor at random time...

Re: EEC Analyzer not loading datalog correctly

There are a few problems. Load/LoadX is in decimal, not in %. They need to be multiplied by 100. You might consider talking to your def developer to get it updated to save Load and LoadX in %. Otherwise, you'll have to convert those columns yourself using Excel or a script using AWK and possibly SED...

Re: EEC Analyzer not loading datalog correctly

Depending on what tuning hardware/software you are using, it's common to get corruption in your datalog file where rows are filled with either invalid data or missing data. In the case of BE making CSV files as datalog files, you'll find random rows that are just shorter where data was literally mis...

Re: DIY Injector Flow Bench

That's excellent work. I do know Fuel Injector Connection has standard flow bench machines that can pulse the injectors at different PWs. The machine doesn't "simulate" RPMs. It's more interested in the length of the ON PW and the total time the test runs. I think most of the tests they run and valu...

Re: BE will not update from 5.117 to 6.4

I suspect the confusion here is the BE Updater Application is v6.4.

The BE updater is a different program and was written as a different application. So it has its own version number which is independent from BE-proper.

There's context-sensitive help throughout EEC Analyzer. But with the TwEECer, you'll only datalog and communicate with the TwEECer with BinaryEditor. EEC Analyzer is only for analyzing your datalogs after-the-fact. It does not directly "talk" to this hardware. It used to have logic in it to talk to ...
