Re: What's Considered Too Much MAF Adjustment?

Transient fueling can be your saving grace or your downfall. One of the problems I've always had with Ford's logic is that it doesn't lock-out Closed Loop operations while accel/transient fueling is engaged...or a the very least prevent it from reducing fuel. Normally accel/transient enrichment sust...

You make very good points and many of them I agree with. But I do try to think "balanced" and I do have to admit that the performance benefits of electric are undeniable. And there are some aspects that your point of view neglects. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not on the side for electric. But I do b...

Re: What's Considered Too Much MAF Adjustment?

What you are describing is where having EEC Analyzer comes in quite handy. I always had filters setup to remove lines from the datalog that represented conditions I didn't want being taken into consideration. I had a bunch of filter conditions for example: Filter out rows where ECT was below 175 Fil...

Re: What's Considered Too Much MAF Adjustment?

My experience with MAFs is with old stock 55mm MAFs that came on the early 5.0Ls, C&L aftermarket MAFs that reused those stock MAF's sensors, and stock slot style MAFs. I can't say I've ever noticed MAF accuracy change with air temps. I've definitely seen where engine temps mattered, but generally t...

Re: Can a Quarterhorse potentially brick the computer in my 93 Thunderbird?

I would agree, not having a priming pump (which usually its the fuel pump that's stuck on when the EEC is dead), stuck on fan, and the inability to pull codes does point to something with the EEC.

Re: Can a Quarterhorse potentially brick the computer in my 93 Thunderbird?

The next things to check are going to be things the engine needs to run. Here's my thinking: Injectors are fed 12v and they are activated by sinking to ground through the EEC. So make sure they have 12v when the ignition is ON Check if the EEC is sinking them to ground when cranking the engine via t...

Re: Can a Quarterhorse potentially brick the computer in my 93 Thunderbird?

That's actually good news.
This means you may still have good EECs. But it does mean you will need to look elsewhere for the failures. Start by verifying voltage on the pins that are supposed to have voltage on the big EEC plug.

Re: Can a Quarterhorse potentially brick the computer in my 93 Thunderbird?

As for the QH bricking an EEC, I've only ever heard of this happening during installation/removal of a chip on and off the J3 port with the ignition ON. I've never heard of a single intermittent connection doing it. I always just assumed that the real cause of doing this is how people often wiggle t...

Re: Can a Quarterhorse potentially brick the computer in my 93 Thunderbird?

The other possibility is that the EECs are just old. Open the cover and look for leaking capacitors. They often leave residue on the circuitboard when they are leaking from the bottom. Just spit-balling here, but is there any chance your HEGO(s) is near a CAT converter? I'm just curious if reversion might be in play at lower RPMs that might explain this?

Re: EEC-V and throttle rate of change

I see the TPS rate responding to the TPS position, but not in any way that seems useful or makes sense.

My guess is it's an interpreted or calculated value on the datalogger's side and it just doesn't have the sample rate necessary to be useful or meaningful.

Its hard to say if that's something "magical" happening right at 1900 or if that just happens to be when the LAMBSEs capture the lean condition. In general, it sounds to me like either Injector Slope/Bp values need to be dialed in and/or you are still using stock Injector Offset values which can cau...

Someone else here recently mentioned that there was roughly a 30% difference between their ProM 80mm MAF curve and the one listed in EA and were inquiring as to how accurate the EA curve is given this large of a difference. 96 F150 with 4.9L is SEFI not batch fire Good to know. For the 96 L6, is the exhaust manifold a single exhaust like the 80s era manifolds were? I don't know much about the AGANF strategy and I certainly don't know how it works on the L6. But if it holds consistent with how other truck strats work, it uses single-bank batch fire instead of dual-bank SEFI. If it is, indeed, controlling all 6 injectors as a single bank, that might explain the ...
