Re: Shorten time to use FN1360 (Stabilized Fuel Table)
A possible compromise is also written into that description...Z_TABOFT. Set that to not be contingent upon WRMEGO thus allowing you to enter FN1360 earlier than CL. But again like the comment says, you'll likely want to increase ECTSTABL to >120deg. Going back to your original comment, you are wanti...

Re: Shorten time to use FN1360 (Stabilized Fuel Table)
The comments for FN1360 for GUFx are: FN1360 - Stabilized OL Fuel Table This table associates Open Loop fueling to RPM/Load as opposed to ECT/Load, which is what FN1307 associates Open Loop fueling on. When FN1360 is enabled in the tune, it is activated when WRMEGO=1 and FLG_ECTSTABLQ = 1. WRMEGO an...

Re: Is Windows 8.1 adequate for Core Tuning Binary Editor and other software...
Most of the tools us that have been here a while used were developed during the Win 2k/XP days so Win8 should be no problem. I used CalEdit/Calcon, TunerPro, and BinaryEditor/EEC Analyzer on a VERY old Dell WinXP machine, then a Toshiba Win7 machine, then my current and very dated HP Omen Win10 mach...

I haven't used that (patch apply feature) in BE for quite some time, probably over 10 years. So I can't say what happened. But it sounds like there might be some bug in BE that Clint can go in, try to reproduce, and fix in a future BE version. While that is the most convenient way to apply those pat...

Re: Hanging idle after throttle blip
I failed to also mention those points that if fueling is off during idle, it doesn't matter what your idle parameters are in the tune. Another thing I discovered and didn't mention since I got so focused just on ISC control aspects is that excessive spark can negatively affect idle as well. While th...

Re: Hanging idle after throttle blip
All my experience is with GUFx strats. However I suspect other strats are similar. Idle has multiple stages, there's Preposition which is where the ISC gets set when the TPS not at closed throttle. Once the TPS returns closed, the mode transitions to DASPOT which is a decaying of the ISC position fr...

Re: Quarterhorse and BE on A9L swapped 86 Fox
Any time you manipulate your selection of datalog items, re-write the tune even if you haven't made any other changes to the tune itself. It's not obvious, but part of what's being done to the tune in the background is to include some of the values you want to datalog as part of additional "relay" c...

Re: Cold Start swings lean after 30 secs
I don't know how A9L2 is setup, but I believe the original A9L would run the engine open loop for a good 1.5-2min before switching over to Closed Loop. During startup (cold or hot), the tune usually runs the engine a bit rich...even richer than normal open loop. But the tune gradually leans out the ...

Re: Hard start after bumping fuel pressure
Most strategies don't rely on MAP or MAF on crank. The tune has a function or table that is hard-coded to fire the injectors a FIXED amount of fuel based on ECT (and possibly voltage). Crank usually doesn't have to be that precise. It just needs to NOT be lean and not be OVERLY rich so much that you...

Even if you don't have a license for EEC Analyser, install it and go to the Cam timing calculator and read the helpfiles about how to use it. There's a LOT of peripheral info about cam timing beyond just using the calculator that I think will answer a lot of your questions.

Re: BBK Fuel Pressure Regulator Issue
The adjustable FPR I bought years ago did the same thing. It would bleed pressure off within a few seconds after the fuel pump was off. This created a longer prime-time to get fuel pressure when cranking. I could not turn the key from OFF immediately to CRANK. If I did, then the starter had to be he...

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
I'm curious what the difference between setting 3 and 4 are from a controls point of view. I ask because my tune is setup for 3 (one switch) however my truck actually has both a clutch switch AND a neutral switch at the transmission suggesting that maybe I should have this set for 4? Logically the t...

Now that the proof of concept has been proven, what's special about this 2.9L? Has it been internally built/modified that makes it stronger than stock? My truck used to be a 2.9L with the 5 speed manual, and while it wasn't wimpy compared the 2.3L, it couldn't compare to the stock Explorer 5.0L I re...

Re: Rev limit removal
The first thing that's confusing is why you are getting reving limited to 3k. I don't know of a gas engine of the types we'd be talking about here that would need such a low rev limit which makes me think there's something else going on causing revs to be limited. But assuming changes do need to be ...

Sounds like you have a plan and a reasonable approach. Of course, there will be issues, mostly likely those will be with solving driveability issues with the tune. Those seem to be the worst. The issues most people struggle with initially are idle and return-to-idle because well if you can't get idl...

jsa answered your question. But I suspect you were hoping for a bit more. But more info would need to be known about what EEC catch code you are working with. If your EEC has support, then we'd direct you to that. Some EEC strategies have multiple developers supporting them. But since we don't know ...

Are there intentions to develop a datalogging replacement for the QH too?
That would be a far more complex endeavor and probably a fool-hearty one given how old the EEC-IV/Vs are now with dwindling demand. But I would certainly applaud and welcome the effort.

It's been a while since I did this to my tune, but whatever numbers I came up with are still working well today. Re: Changing configured engine displacement
If the EEC reverted, this would suggest it was running a non-stock tune at one point. The only way it could've done that is for someone to have chipped the EEC. These older EECs were not programmable without the help of external hardware. The hardware can range from a simple tune-holding chip to a f...

I noticed just now that FireFox is giving me a security warning about the certificate. My guess is it expired and Jon hasn't noticed to renew it. Re: Moates Quarterhorse BE Questions
When you have the ability to make changes to the tune, there's no requirement that the MAF be "calibrated" to a specific size injector. What matters most is that the MAF and injectors are correctly sized to the capacity of the engine they will be used with. Regardless of whether the MAF and injector...
