Re: Wideband input eec-iv

I don't know the answer, but my guess is the people that can answer this will need to know the hardware code of your EEC. Since I don't deal with hardware codes, I'm not as versed as which of the numbers listed on an EEC's label is the hardware code. I know it is NOT the big number most of us use to...

Re: Neutral rev - RPM overshoot - surge - die

Just a guess, but you may try increasing your PREPOSITION value for idle when at Part Throttle. This will give you a little more distance to decay from when you go Closed Throttle. The other option is to reduce the decay rate during idle DASPOT decay from PREPOSITION. In GUFx strats, there's also th...

Re: Low speed low load bucking

EEC Analyzer is the program you'll want to use to help you to deal with Injector Timing. However TBO, Sequential-fire Electronic Fuel Injection (SEFI) Timing is one of those fine-tuning adjustments you do once the engine is otherwise running well, and often only done for fuel economy benefits. It's ...

Re: Shorted ECT sensor?

There are certain components that you often want to pay a little more for (i.e. go to Napa or the dealer for). But other components are fine for AutoZone/Advance. I would say a temp sensor is definitely a get it from wherever you can. I can't say the same for wax-operated thermostats. I've had therm...

Re: Shorted ECT sensor?

I've never looked it up, but if I had to guess the temp sensors are Thermistors. However there are different "type" thermistors that while similar, have slightly different transfer curves similar to how similarly sized MAFs have similar curve, but not identical curves. The most popular thermistors I...

Re: Going CL too soon, lean tip-in

If it's only at cold conditions, you MIGHT be able to fatten-up your Transient Enrichment on tip-in during cold conditions, and leave the ECT conditions that are working fine alone. Note fattening the Accel Enrichment would only be effective at fighting the lean condition while the TPS is actively o...

Re: Going CL too soon, lean tip-in

Without a log, I can't say for sure, but I suspect the actual problem is exactly opposite of the way you described it. I get that the LAMBSEs go up. But I suspect they are going up because the actual AFRs are rich, and the LAMBSEs are responding to an overly rich tip-out condition. Then when you tip...

Re: Idle/dashpot Frustrations

I think it is safe to assume the reason it is stalling is the sharp lean spike the engine gets. The problem for me is since both graphs represent a throttle blip, there are no examples of the engine tipping-in and staying in to see if the problem is caused by tip-in or tip-out. If the problem is tip...

I don't know anything other than what's been presented here, but that does sound like a pretty bad bait-n-switch. I'd certainly be asking for a refund if they cannot supply what's represented in the picture. I've never had any issues with Summit like this. I don't know if this was an honest mistake ...

If you are going to run higher octane, then yes. And it's not just WOT areas that might benefit. Some of the cruising RPM/Loads might get better fuel economy with slightly higher numbers. Note I said "might" not "will." But the point is with access to the tune, you can experiment. One of the 1st thi...

Re: Engine timing

When you twist the dizzy from 10 to 14, you adjust all running conditions by that same 4 degree advance adjustment. The benefit of making this adjustment in the tune is that you can keep some conditions at stock values, while making other areas of the tune more aggressive. The tune offers far more g...

Re: Idle higher than commanded

Keep in mind that there are different modes for idle. You'll want to know what mode you are in. The most likely modes for stuck-high idle is PREPOSITION or DASPOT. Preposition is an Open-loop idle control, meaning the EEC is commanding the IAC valve, but is not modulating it to any specific RPM valu...

It's sounding to me like either the wiring harness or the repinning is opening those injectors and holding them open. All the other things you described should eliminate the injectors, themselves, as being bad and instead point to the EEC/wiring as the problem. Try connecting a test light to the inj...

Re: Help With HEGO Readings and overall log opinions

Until you fix the exhaust leak, you cannot make any assumptions about the HEGO's feedback. No reading from a HEGO in a known leaky bank is expected and normal.

But if you want proof, then swap the HEGOs and see does the "suspect" HEGO still act suspect in the other bank or does it act normal.

Well I figured it out, it needs to be a GUF1 because it's a A9P. That's correct. The only chip that lets you use alternate strategies is Quarterhorse. With it, you can actually run GUF1, GUFA, or GUFB on any of the EECs that follow any of those strategies because they are so similar AND because all...

That appears to be a PMAS aftermarket MAF sensor intended to replace a stock sensor. So any MAF housing a Mustang Fox-era stock sensor would've fit into, that PMAS sensor should also fit and work. As for figuring out the flowrate of the PMAS, I'm sure that can be figured out. I would expect PMAS to ...

As far as I know, most stock MAFs are not blow-thru tolerant. IIRC, they read WAY HIGHER than actual flow values. I recall someone many years back trying to blow-thru an LMAF and never could get it right. They abandoned the LMAF and went to a PMAS HPX, I think, and had no trouble at all. Regardless ...

If the MAF that you have is a C&L, then it should be much easier for you to get the actual curve instead of relying on the "calibrated" aspect. With the air-frame diameter, sample tube, and sensor known, you should be able to get C&L to supply you a rough MAF curve...certainly close enough to test w...

When you have control of the tune there is no need to lie to the EEC about what you actually have connected to the sensor wires, which is exactly what relying on a "calibrated" MAF is doing. Instead enter the ACTUAL MAF curve & Injector Parameters when you have the ability to modify the tune. The us...
