Re: Performing reverse-lookup of parts to vehicles (but mostly PCV talk)

The 89 only made 13# but with the tired bottom end it was more than enough to cause issues with the pcv system.

Re: Performing reverse-lookup of parts to vehicles (but mostly PCV talk)

I tried one of those units once on my 89 long ago. The crankcase pressure exploded the plastic bowl and filter to pieces...lol

Re: Performing reverse-lookup of parts to vehicles (but mostly PCV talk)

Which separator were you using? If it was a generic HD or Lowe's unit; those are water separators...Not oil separators. Oil separators really aren't required on n/a applications. If you are experiencing blow by enough to require a separator on your combination, I would look into upgrading your crank...

Re: Performing reverse-lookup of parts to vehicles (but mostly PCV talk)

Are you actually using the plastic elbows on the pcv valves? We always remove them and connect the vacuum line directly to the port on top of the pcv and completely eliminate the elbow. You can use a 80s turbo coupe or grand national pcv as they seal the best. If your pcv is configured in a true sea...

Re: dataloging in be with mapping

Hey Ed...this particular strategy has been adapted from the old PCMX definition for the EecTuner. It incorporates easy use functions to support the required bin hacks to run either MAF or SD. The supported definition is likely very similar to Derek's T23B which doesn't support the hacks. SvoJohn us...

I have no problem opening your log with 0 errors in EA v.5.7.0... You need to configure your setting tab to duplicate bank 2 from bank 1 and define 4cyl.

Re: Changed from a J3 chip to Moates Quaterhorse issues

Once you have the right mode configured in the QH hardware tab and have the correct adx and xdf selected you will write the tune to the hardware once you turn the ignition on and the pump will run until the tune is finished writing. At least that has been my experience.

I am not very knowledgeable with TP but I am sure like BE you need to set up the user dashboard display and choose which parameters you are datalogging.

You may need to purchase a better strategy and bin which has a lot more pids broke out and defined for you. I would contact "sailorbob" or Adam @coretuning.

Re: Engine runs rich with just MAF and Injector parameters entered

I am not quite sure I would run garbage 87 octane with your engine combination. Are you using a wideband to tune? Keep in mind any time you make fuel or maf related changes with adaptive learning enabled, you MUST clear the kamrfs after making the changes and writing them to the hardware..If you are...

As far as I know, everyone here is using BE. TP has it's own attractive qualities but is difficult to use for most people and just isn't as widely used or user friendly as BE in my opinion.

Re: How does one achieve 199.99% load?

Nothing is really documented as a be all end all definition of proper tuning if you will. There is a documentation by Banish and LaSota Racing that are very informative. I'll be honest with the fact that most of tuning is open to individual interpretation of the basic guidelines and what works best ...

Re: How does one achieve 199.99% load?

OK I am back from my trip.... Went out today and with SARCHG set to 190 I am seeing max. 170% load, and my fuel is way rich. Skunk -- you raise an interesting question about how inflated was the MAF on my original tune. I was thinking about the same thing. I will have to go back through my archived...

Smart move, welcome back. More and more people will follow suit in time. Tuning doesn't need to be any more difficult than it already tends to be until you get the hang of things. What are you having troubles with?

Re: 408W F1A low number ...

Just took a peek at the last log you posted...... It appears you have NOT scaled your tune far enough. Load is hitting 199 at 4.4 MAFV and 4600 RPM. Your running out of injector at the same MAFV at 5000 RPM likely due to hitting the 200 load clip along with the fact your trying to tune a cold engin...
