Re: Using quarter horse to tune. Wants to know is finalized using HP tuners to flash the eec 5

I can't speak to HP Tuners (Not a fan of them personally, I prefer EFILive, but EFILive doesn't support Ford), but if you're tuning with a QH and TunerPro, and have BE with the J2534 license and a J2534 device (Mongoose, MDI2, etc), you can take the BIN you're working with in TunerPro and flash it t...

NPL1 Bin?

Does anyone happen to have a stock NPL1 bin they could share? I seem to recall there being something wonky with my NPL1 PCM and would like to flash it with a known clean calibration.

Re: Flashing EEC-V

Just a little more info, using a trial of Palmer's ScanXL, I have determined that my GM MDI2 CAN communicate with the Ford PCM - the Palmer software was able to connect to the PCM and read live data, and nothing fussed about connecting, so that suggests that there is the possibility that it would a...

Flashing EEC-V

I have BE that I purchased some time ago, and a FBFG2 strategy DB from Adam, but I've moved to using TunerPro and another definition, and that's been working well. The only shortcoming is I don't believe it'll flash the EEC. If I'm not mistaken, BE can flash the EEC using a J2534 device. Assuming th...

Re: Quarterhorse II update desired

What I've been told is at this point, there are only a few prototypes in existence, and that there pretty much certainly won't be anything on it until 2016. When in 2016, no idea.

Re: QH corrupted its tunes and BE is broken

The problem here is I LITERALLY turned the machine on, plugged my dongle and QH into it and launched BE - and it didn't work. I have NO IDEA what it could possibly have done that caused it to lose its mind. I didn't try the updates until after it lost its mind in an attempt to fix the issue. This ma...

Re: QH corrupted its tunes and BE is broken

I have edited my OP - Adam got back to me a bit ago and we just got off the phone - things are now operational - some random convergence that we don't know caused BE to decide I didn't have a valid DB - this started from the time I turned the machine on, and I only tried updates and such after that,...

QH corrupted its tunes and BE is broken

This is what I have been DEATHLY afraid of with BE for a long time - that something was going to go wrong and I wasn't going to be able to get any help. I have had more problems with BE, mostly related to licensing in some way shape or form, than any other piece of software I've ever used. Fortunate...

Re: Car won't start - Thoughts/advice/suggestions?

Now that is piss-poor on Ford's part if that's true. If they are going to use the same connector on different plugs, the polarity should be compatible too. This is disconcerting enough that I'm a little in doubt or I'm thinking there's some interesting little detail that explains the why of this. I...

Re: Car won't start - Thoughts/advice/suggestions?

I think he is talking about the plugs on the ignition coils. What he said :) Yes, the injectors don't care about polarity, and I wouldn't have thought the coils would have cared (or I would have expected a different & incompatible connector), but they have the same connector as SOHC coils, the pola...

Re: Car won't start - Thoughts/advice/suggestions?

Figured it out - it's always something stupid. Leave it to Ford . I was assuming it was the injectors, as while I could smell fuel out the exahust, it wasn't overpowering or anything, so I swapped the original injectors back in and cut the EV1 plugs off a junk harness that's just sitting a...

Car won't start - Thoughts/advice/suggestions?

I just swapped out the 'Pink Top' EV1 injectors in my car for the EV6 Mach 1 injectors to test my modified Mach 1 harness. I did adjust the tune for the injectors. For reasons I have not been able to figure out yet, the car won't start. Last weekend, I pinned out both this harness and the 'original'...

Re: Converting to Slot MAF

Yeah, that 'flange' should be welded to the pipe. I had toyed with the idea of trying to make something, but the problem is just about everything is aluminum and I don't have the resources to weld aluminum - steel yes, but not aluminum. Howdy, Here's a link for their sensor flange as they call it: h...

Re: Converting to Slot MAF

Yeah, that probably would work, but they sure are proud of that cheap piece of metal... If the pictures are any indication, they don't even put a bung on it to proerly and securely mount the sensor.... I'm guessing they're the only ones that make such a product?

Converting to Slot MAF

I'm looking to convert my Cougar over to a slot MAF, and in my searching, there are a plethora of 'how-tos' detailing how to wire up the new plug on an older car, but thats not where my issue lies - I could do that with my eyes closed. What im looking for is info on physically mounting the sensor. I...

Dumb question - What/where are the 'deltap multiplier' values? Searching for 'del', 'deltap', 'multiplier', etc didn't yield anything.

Re: 2004 Mustang VSS Output

Well, the VSS signal is communicated over the SCP Bus to the IPC, and possibly other modules, but there is also a VSS signal output by the PCM - According to Mitchel, the 2004 Mustang GT uses the VSS out (Pin 68 on the PCM) for the cruise control and it also splits off at splice 112 to go to the sou...

2004 Mustang VSS Output

Does anyone know what kind of signal the 99-04 Mustang PCMs put out on their VSS output pin(s)? What I'd REALLY like to do is set up the speedometer and cruise to get their VSS signal from the PCMs output and eliminate the gear driven VSS so that in the event of a gear change or tire change I can ju...

Changing Injectors

I will be (temporarily) swapping my 19/21# pink top injectors for a set of '0 280 155 865' injectors, that from everything I can tell are in fact stock Mach 1 24# injectors to test my 'butchered' DOHC harness, since the DOHC harness has the EV6 connectors and the 'pink tops' are EV1 (yes, I know the...

BE has not been automatically checking for updates, and when I try to manually check, nothing happens. I checked the website and BE is apparently up to b16, so I downloaded it, removed b13 and installed b16. According to the splash screen, it's a beta... Should there be a beta version in the main do...

Re: EECV tuners stand up and be counted

Personally, I'd either leave it coil packs or do a proper conversion like I did. Thanks for the great info! What ecu did you use, and what car did you make the conversion on? I used a PCM out of an 04 Mustang GT, the body harness out of a 96/97 Cougar, and the engine harness out of a 03/04 Mustang ...

Re: EECV tuners stand up and be counted

Do all of the EEC-V ecu's allow for true CoP functionality? From what I have gathered, most EDIS setups can be converted to run the coil packs, but it would still be wasted spark. I looked through CDAN4, are there others that may be more appropriate for a 4 cylinder conversion? Are there any EEC-V ...

Re: EECV tuners stand up and be counted

What EEC-V ecu's are broken out well enough to be tunable with a QuarterHorse? I'm starting to consider the option of swapping from the T4M0 to eec-v, but what ecu's are options for a J3 tuner? jason I'm running a FBFG2 based EEC-V out of an 04 Mustang GT with a very well broken out Strategy. Re: EECV tuners stand up and be counted

Personally, given the option, I'd rather flash the PCM. If you have a heavily modified car, the stock calibration would likely be useless anyway. The QH is great, but in my case, if something were to happen to the QH, my car won't even start, let alone run on the factory calibration. I'd like to be ...

Injector parameters

Could anyone send me the injector parameters from Mustang GT's between 99 & 04? I'm curious if Ford changed the injector parameters anytime in that range. I'm pretty sure earlier on, the GT's had the 'yellow top' 19# injectors, and then at soem point they changed to the 'pink top' mystery injectors....

I just picked one up out of a local junkyard from an 07 Focus (lso saw 05/06 with same MAF). The list in the previous ling said 08+ Focus. Would I be correct to assume that the 07 Focus slot MAF is the same? I believe this is what Mike is referring to: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUSTANG-05-06-mass-air-...

Re: transmission skip shifting

Actually, I did some more reading, and I found that supposedly the fluid exhaust from the direct clutch is too slow. '99 & newer valve bodies allow manual 4-2 downshifts because they have better fluid exhaust ports. Personally, becasue of the improvements, I wouldn't use any 4R70W older than 1999. G...

Re: transmission skip shifting

I think this is mainly an issue with the older transmissions with the weak roller clutch. I don't think it's as big an issue (if an issue at all) in the newer transmissions with the Mechanical Diode clutch taht replaced the roller clutch.
