Electrolytic Capacitors, it's not just GUFB!

Check those caps! Just a heads up. Mom's 95 Taurus was running ok but developed a funny exhaust smell. Like the cats getting super hot. Then one day it threw a check engine light and barely made it home. Came to check it out and couldn't read codes and saw the fans and fuel pump ran constantly soon ...

Re: How do i tune the Ignition Timing ?

For v6 stuff, I highly recommend you join Decipha's forum at efidynotuning.com He's had a slew of super coupe t-birds. He prefers TunerPro and his defs tend to work better with it. I prefer Binary Editor, probably like cgrey as it was the first I worked with. I do find it easier to hop around from s...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

Some other tips. Verify the dimension of the projector you're considering and measure your housing to make sure they fit. When I got the Morimoto's next after those chrome Ebay G1's, I again picked a D2S bulbed "H4" conversion rather than the H1 projectors. At that time, the H1 projectors was longer...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

Ok, hours of searching still hasn't found the pics. However, I did post a bunch in the impalassforum. Starting a post 32 in this thread are some of the pics. I'm 91ss on there if you want to read along. There was a bunch of experimentation going on. I see that the projector in the fluted lens still ...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

Yes, sure do have pics and can share experiences. But mostly of the carpice headlights. I'll have to figure which PC or network drive has them first, maybe still in memory card lol. The crown vic was the easiest install other than separating the lens on the new housings as it was an H1 based project...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

Yep, it's a lot of R&D in terms of hours and dollars to find a 'ok' combo. But once you plop down about a buck 30 for a complete set of bi xenon projectors like at the very top, you'll never mess around anything else. Maybe a still little more after all the different sets, you'd have to add up all y...

Maybe if your running with adaptives still on and have them set to a high rate (low number) it could affect your open loop fueling?

The eec will calculate how much fuel is needed based on the current air going in (MAF or VE table) and what the desired AFR is (open loop table). It will be accurate only once the fuel is dialed in.

Since you already have a Burn 2 and adapter to read the F3, there is nothing to gain getting a jaybird. Get the QH so you can start logging.

There could be other reasons too. Did it happen right after installing the quarterhorse? Could be other fueling problems, spark, etc.

Does it start if after you first try, and then push pedal to the floor (clears flood condition)?

My 08 Crown Vic is a Flex Fuel. I would guess all of the fuel system is E85 compatible. Takes a canister type filter. If I recall right, the new one I ordered but not installed yet, looked like same ends, but maybe a little bit smaller in diameter. If I can find it in the garage, I'll take another l...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

Notice in the side-by-side of the LED and Halogen. Even the Halogen has some scatter directly above the center. It does, but with much less intensity. Notice the small hot spot right above the very intense center. Then compare how wide and bright that spot is with the LED. You need that spot pointi...

Re: My ramblings about LED headlight conversions

You have a lot of light bleeding above the horizontal cut off. Any light of intensity should be readjusted below the center line of the headlights or you will be irritating on coming drivers if you live in a fairly populated area. Even that scattered light up higher doesn't look like 'much'. But it ...

If I'm understanding you right, you say there's a shutter in the projector that moves to emulate a low and high beam. If so I thought that only wason the high-end cars where they also have servos to move the projectors as you make turns. I didn't realize that was actually becoming common. Oh yes. I...

Hmmm, can't seem to quote. I'll try my best to match your reply. - Your wife's most likely are halogen projectors. The japanese adopted projectors much earlier than us. Re: slot Maf difference

Yep. That was one of our high school projects-making different meters. Back then when it was just analog panel meters, they were all basically 0-50uA meters. We'd have to figure out what resistor to put in series to make it a voltmeter for the range we wanted and then similarly figure out the right ...

Re: slot Maf difference

The curve is a function of how much air the sensor read vs the actual air. A larger tube makes it 'read' less for a give flow. You could try the opposite. If you reduce the sensor's opening to read less air, you're get the same thing...

If your datalog payload has TAR (throttle angle rate), you can log that if not already and you'll see what parts of the table to concentrate on.

Re: Back to basics (for me!). So once Lambse matches the WB..... Then.....?

Yeah, once you got LAMBSEs matching WB, then your fuel dialing is done and you move to tuning. Assuming your WOT LAMBSE also match the WB, then you'd go into the Base OL Fuel table. In there is where you set your desired AFR when you go into open loop which includes WOT.

The PW goes to near nothing as the MAF dropped to near nothing. But also, 3 samples (.2sec) later it looks like your took you're foot off of it as the TP dropped. And depending how the data captured, it's possible it all happened at the same time. So what if you log again, but keep your foot into it...

Re: kg/hr for healthy 5.0

Ditto. IMHO, since you took 10% off the curve, the curve was probably good as it was. I'd put it back to original and take 10% fuel out of it (make high slope 10% larger and see where it gets you. Maybe low slope too as with large injectors, a good portion of the pulse may come from it's contribution.

Re: kg/hr for healthy 5.0

Good point. Fuel, cid and a some others should be scaled the same amount if that is what he meant. Which is probably why it doesn't match the stock curves. Though seems hardly required for a lightning maf as it fits into the eec's max range. "I wonder if the low pulse width along with different vacu...

Re: kg/hr for healthy 5.0

Like Lead says, it's not the efficiency. What is happening, even though the MAFV's are the same at different rpm's, the result is that the injector pulsewidth HAVE to be different. Think about it, same MAF means same amount of air. If you have the same amount of air, what else do you need? Same amou...

Looking for hw/sw suggestions to tune my 2008 crown vic pi. Closest set up to BE/TunerPro I found was SCT's Pro Racer software and then one of their flash programmers. Re: kg/hr for healthy 5.0

Sounds like a ok number if you didn't butcher the curve too much. It is a meter after all. You really wouldn't adjust a voltmeter to read 120volts just cause you think that's what your outlet should be :) Same would be for the maf. Should only need tweeking if your airpath makes it misread. Looks li...

Re: A9L Vs A9P Neutral Sensing Strategy differences

Both EEC receive a ground in neutral. Or is when in drive??, regardless, both work the same. Just happens the manual gets via the sig return and the A9p gets a ground via the starter solinoid. It's coil which is low resistance and connected to ground makes it a ground in the eec's eyes. The stock a9...
