Dongle Crash New Install BE 5.856 or 5.862 W10 & W11
This is a new install. I've tried two computers. One with W11. One with W10. No known errors any where. The Log file just says "Started" and gives the time. Both computers will boot BE without the Dongle and boot unregistered. Both computers with the Dongle installed will boot to the Splash screen a...

Re: What's Considered Too Much MAF Adjustment?
My BIGGEST screw-up to date: Ignoring ITHBMA. My second biggest screw-up: Assuming the fuel filters were clean. If you haven't done so already, dial in ITHBMA. http://efidynotuning.com/ Has an excellent write up on how to do this, (Under "Idle Air") HOWEVER this is NOT a "One and done" as you'll be ...

Re: What's Considered Too Much MAF Adjustment?
I created quite a stir on this topic a while back: https://eectuning.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23195 Some say a MAF curve is "gospel" equal to the ten commandments. (Thou shall not change! EVER!) I say it is a dynamic ever changing entity. The best you can hope is to get the MAF close for a giv...

Re: Random stalling when idling
Two things to check come to mind: The external Fuel Filter. On my 1995 it was higher than the fuel tank in the rear axle recess area. The Internal inlet sock inside the tank on the fuel pump inlet. Mine was varnished so bad that part of it would hold gasoline. Now, pray that the external fuel filter...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
After a couple test datalogs over a predetermined route, I can find no real difference in fuel mileage by running open loop utilizing lean AFRs over closed loop. I left the timing unchanged both in open and closed loop. My cruise ignition timing is still advanced like a vacuum advance would do in th...

Both old and new injectors are listed. Yeah, Ford's ...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
OK, here are my experiences that made me advocate for adjusting the MAF Curve. I bought my Quarterhorse and Binary Editor and decided it learn to tune on my PURE stock engine. The stock car was a dog! Clearly it was running extremely lean as any throttle opening past 1/4 throttle elicited loud pingi...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
I 100% agree with both of you that the DESIGN of the PCV system is you pull metered air in after the MAF has measured it thru the engine and back out thru the PCV valve. My only argument is that as the engine wears, blow by increases. Over time the negative flow into the engine decreases and at some...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
I once too believed the MAF curve was the 11th Commandment- "Thow shall not change!". That is until I proved to myself otherwise. One size fits all as long as it is big enough, right? ( I had to create mine because I bought a slot MAF and uncalibrated housing.) I'll post some before and after MAF Tr...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
My original contention remains: Anything done to alter the way the engine breaths alters the MAF curve because you alter the volumetric efficiency of the engine. A MAF curve is only accurate for a specific complete drive train. Actually I’m being really generous with that statement. My stock MAF and...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
Your MAF curve is a relationship between fuel and air based on a known air flow based on a SPECIFIC volumetric efficiency. It is all about cylinder filling and exactly how and with what you fill the cylinders. Another way to look at it, let’s suppose I had a terrible exhaust system. The result of co...

Re: 1L2F-12B579-BA MAF transfer function?
In a sentence: Lower Differential pressure drop across the filter. The engine breaths easier at the same throttle opening. Same thing with headers on the back end. If I make it easier to breath, I get better cylinder filling. Better cylinder filling produces more HP at the same throttle opening. Now...

As you said: “Life got in the way.” Another reason for the decline in participation here is simple economics. We just had a bunch of people lose their jobs. Rehiring is underway, but it takes time to get your life back to normal. It takes $2000 to $3000 more to do a computer car vs. a carburetor car...

Linux will always be a year or more behind Windows with new Hardware. I’m not a gamer, but I consider it a fools errand for anybody but a developer to attempt to run anything less than one year old in a Linux environment. If your base argument is that Linux sucks for gaming, IMO it absolutely does a...

Lots of 20 & 30 somethings around here are still modifying cars. Most just don’t want to spend the months long learning curves for retuning or should I say reprogramming a Computer controlled car. That means carburetors are still king of the roost for now anyway. Gearheads still hate the Prius, and ...

Re: 351 E4OD EEC IV QH tuning
Have you dialed in ITHBMA? If not go to efidynotuning.com and read the “Idle Air” section. This is a royal pain. As you raise the ITHBMA scaler you have to raise your idle air setting. I went .1 lb/min and + 5% each time in idle air. Failure to increase idle air makes for a car that probably won’t s...

My contention is that California isn't just at war with Auto Enthusiasts, they are at war with fossil fuels and anything or anybody that uses them. When you ban New ICE vehicle sales in 2035, and ALL small gasoline engines in 2024, that is a clear message to me: "Comply or we will use financial mean...
