Re: Ford ka 1.3 1997

The source code is to build your own exe. The build could be as is or you could change the source for some reason then build. SAD4.07.14 preview is only available as source to build yourself because it is a very experimental. dpc boxes have a different processor, so no these disassemblers will not w...

A blank def file is needed for Binary Editor. I don't use TP.

Some newer EEC's have J3 solder jumpers.
Thanks to Ironman for the pic.

After that it is having the QH set to serve the tune from from the location it is stored on the QH.
If that's all set right from TP then its a QH or EEC error.

Re: Greetings and a question

I think BE is the choice if you want extra logging I/O. A plugin could be written for TP but you can't talk to the QH at the same time. I'd expect the trans temp to have bias or pullup resistors tied to the input. Not tested it though. If it is the case then it would bias the WB reading, so not ideal.

Re: Greetings and a question

Welcome. Tpro rt accepts a single data stream. That means the qh OR another. So a QH with a Superlogger in series is one Moates data stream for Tpro rt. BE can handle multiple data streams as purchased withe the BE license. You could use a superlogger input for WB. You could use a WB with serial dat...

These are two banks ECU's even if the 32k bank is not used for program or calibration data. The 32k bank is used for the Ford copyright notice, strategy name and calibration ID etc. Yes, see that. Used but inactive . From your previous posts, I thought the P3M ECU had only a single ROM bank. Yes, 5...

Looking at 4DBG.bin which is a ETV-557 box, the 32kb bank does not appear to be active and can't find a B4_RA being enabled.

Indeed more test subjects needed.
Anyone know of any?

The PWB in P3M has component skip markers, so somethine else is built on that circuit board.

Re: I've got the EEC Software Manual and Custom IC Hardware Architecture Reference

I feel like pointing out that the documentation says the registers are actually implemented as SRAM and refers to them as RAM banks, which is no doubt a source of confusion. And yes, it is crucial for this conversation to make a distinction between external and internal memories and not to confused...

Do you accept RAM banks are read and write memory external to the uP? Did you mean to say: Do you accept RAM banks are read and write memory internal to the uP? No not quite. Drop the word bank. Registers are the internal ram banks . Do you accept RAM is read and write memory external to the uP?

Do we agree that the P3M hardware box only has 1 ROM bank? Yes, that has been stated many times. Does the disassembler happen to know that with a 8065 with 1 rom bank, no rom bank switching, that a word direct odd address read, will not, and should not do any +100? You've gone and done it again! Thank you! I think that's on page C14 or somewhere near there -- I had only seen the other two pages for the DUCE and this makes it clear that there is a specific reference to the CPU. The pocket reference is dated 1991, revision 1 whereas the software manual is dated 1990 and the hardware manual 1...

The "D" 81C65-D is just address mask option D, isn't it? Maybe (maybe not) it is just a coincidence that the handbook talks of Step D and Mask D. Yeah, CPU bug fixes, energy improvements, performance improvements. Have seen AMD use the term that way as well.

Step D, still an 8065 but revised.

Re: I've got the EEC Software Manual and Custom IC Hardware Architecture Reference

I suspect the 'step' and 'mask' changes are different things in the DUCE chips. You won't find a DUCE mask A chip used with an 8065 because of the overlap of RAM addresses in the 0x0100 to 0x3FF range. As TVRfan noted, add handbook page C14 to the D-step references. I had concluded that mask and st...

You listed a bunch of 8 bit SFR's at odd addresses so I stand by my statement that you access these odd address SFR's by means of a byte read or write (where writes are permitted). Whilst the high byte of a word sized SFR may share the same address use a word read or write (where writes are permitt...

 What kicked this off is about the later added (?) feature of accessing direct registers as words with odd addresses being used to change RAM banks, and whether or not this applies for special func registers (addresses < 0x20 ). We beat this to death on the other forum.

There are parts of the manuals that are at odds with the way it actually works in silicon.

So far all the 8065's have R0-R3FF internal to the uP, that is the area where +100 address mode operates.
