Miss at idle or lopey cam? Comp Cam 284H-R14

Post by rdubb17 » Fri Apr 03, 2015 5:35 pm

I've always attributed my idle as lopey rather than an idle miss. I have a Comp Cam 284H-R14 camshaft with 1.7 RR. My father-in-law came up this past week and he thought it may be missing at idle. I know I have a few exhaust leaks that I need to address but it certainly got me thinking. My plans are to get a new set of plugs and put them in and do a start to idle and warmup for 20 minutes and see how the plugs read. See the below video and let me know your thoughts?

Ran the cylinder balance test - got a pass (90)

I also did KOEO/KOER tests and got the following:

KOEO = 511, 10, 111
KOER = 6, 116, 314, 311

The only concerning codes were 311/314 but right now my smog system is only half running as I have the hose going to the head capped off.

I'm going to still try replacing the sparkplugs and then do a spark plug reading.

Turns out she was running a bit lean at idle. I richened her up and it sounds better. Still slightly lopey. All cylinders are firing at idle.
