EEC-V pins

Post by ironmanisanemic » Tue Dec 23, 2014 8:31 pm

Hello,

I am trying to figure out where i can buy new uncrimped EEC-V pins. I can find EEC-IV all day long, but its like a virtual blackhole when it comes to anything EEC-V. I'm trying to get everything together to custom make a harness for a project i have, but am having a hell of a time with this. Even if it was just the correct part number from Ford, that would be a big help since the Ford Dealer here is useless unless you already know what you want.

Thank you

Howdy Ironman,

I'm clueless. But you can go to your local Pick-N-Pull and get a couple of plugs from a Town Car ( they are under the hood on the DS near the brake booster and the easiest ones to get to ) and cut them up to get the pins. Hopefully you can get enough that are reusable for your project.

On my 414W I had a 60 pin EEC-IV wiring harness for a 4.6 V-8 and I grafted a 104 pin EEC-V plug to the harness. I spent many, many hours cutting and splicing the wires together.

Thats what it looks like i will end up having to do anyway to get the cavity. but i was hoping to get the non crimped ends so i could have less splices and a cleaner harness overall. I might not have much other choice than go the JY route for a full harness and just modify it to fit. I would still like to have some kind of PN for the pin for a just in case.

UPDATE!

So i figured i would give an update to this since im sure im not the only one still looking for a source of these pins. I had contacted Ron Francis a while back and was sold some terminals with the stipulation that they will not do it again. So i was back to square one again. I somewhat gave up hope after having zero luck with the dealership or with google. One of the dealerships around here gave me the name of a company that was a supplier for Ford stuff. When i contacted them about it they blew me off at first because i didnt want to purchase thousands of them. Fast forward a few years, and im getting interested in finding these again, and i contacted the same company again, but this time using my websites email address. I received a quote a few weeks later with the ford part numbers and pricing. But again i would have to purchase 30k of them. But now armed with the Ford numbers i had some new ammo to go with. Searching one of the part numbers linked me to a TE Connectivity data sheet. This had the ford number and the TE number. Searching for that number gave me exactly what i was looking for! Except that from Mouser Inc, they were a non stocked item, and would have to be special ordered with a minimum quantity of 25k. Well with that bombshell i went searching for different vendors that might sell them in smaller quantities. I found one linked from the TE website that showed 17k of them in stock. They sold the exact terminal i was looking for in whatever quantity you wanted, but they have a $50 minimum order. Oh well, ill buy 150 terminals and meet that easy. After finding that information i went down the rabbit hole and decided i wanted to try and find all of the connector parts. So here it is, most of these parts will be special order, but some of them are in stock.

Female Terminal - F4SB-14487-AA or XL2T-14487-AA - 776235-1 sourced from onlinecomponents.com

ECU Connector End - F5SB-14A624-AA - 770750-1 sourced from onlinecomponents.com minimum order quantity of 6

Harness Connector End - F5SB-14A464-AA - 776557-1 sourced from onlinecomponents.com minimum order quantity of 48 EDIT 2 (just ordered these from connectorpeople.com, they have them in stock but have a $25 dollar minimum. i ended up ordering 6 of them for just over that.)

Gasket - 776237-1 - sourced from onlinecomponents.com minimum order quantity of 625

Housing cover - 770768-1 - sourced from onlinecomponents.com

All of the part numbers listed AFTER the Ford numbers are the TE Connectivity numbers (formerly Tyco Electronics). Those should be able to be sourced virtually anywhere.

I havent purchased any of these but the terminals, but I am sure with some googling you can find a vendor for each of these that can either get them in smaller quantities or have them in stock.

Hope this helps!!

Great info!

Be nice to have similar for EEC-IV

Being able to get the male and female connectors allows for making some nice adapter cables and breakout boxes.

I'm working on the eec-iv stuff now. I have the ford part numbers, but trying to find the source for them is the trick at the moment. It also doesn't look like ford used tyco for those connectors either, it looks line they used a company called engineered plastics corporation. Unfortunately they don't look like they have a catalog to order from.

Eventually I would like it have part numbers and vendors for all of the connectors common to eec-iv and eec-v so anyone could build a harness using new parts and not have to rely on junk yard connectors or crappy quality pigtails.

Excellent work man. That would be ideal to have everything. My brother in law is in the car repair biz. Mostly subaru. He once gave me a site that you could find or maybe it was buy pins and connectors. I didn't go much further as you needed part numbers if I recall correctly. I'll try to look for it or hit him up again.

That's interesting. I wonder if that's the case with the US connectors as well. I have a relatively early harness that i was using for parts research, so maybe the later ones are different. Do you have a connector that you could take some pictures of? Or maybe some part numbers if there are any on the connector?

I might be mistaken on the Euro EEC-IV AMP as I can't find the info I thought I had.

In any case,for the harness side, search;
E7EB-14488-GA for 18 ga
E7EB-14488-NA for 14 ga

http://terminalsupplyco.com/Store/Defau ... AT=T010070

On the ECU side
The connector housing is made by OSRAM SYLVANIA or possibly GTE.
The engineering numbers are printed on as E9AF 14A624 AA, and moulded in as FOAF-14A459-AA.
The gasket is E4AB-14A297-AB

Hi Ironman

I'm trying to source enough pins to make a new EEC-V harness and keep drawing blanks

Do you have any positive leads on a place that actually has some in stock????

thanks in anticipation
