REPLACE P3M EEC

Post by 58fordf100 » Fri Oct 06, 2017 8:56 pm

I don’t know if this is the right forum but here I go

I built a 1958 f100 pick up using running gear from a donor car a 1993 Thunderbird
T-bird vin # 1FABP62TPH223217, Eec is a P3M
All engine wiring was removed and installed in the 58 with the exception of
-Heater and AC is a stand alone
-Smog pump has been removed
-Intake is a K&C directly mounted on the MAF sensor
Truck has been on the road for 5 years now with no problems, however I would like to start to
do some modification to improve performance. This is my first venture into computer technology so I installed the total digital dash into the 58 bezel. The only problem is the digital tach switches form reading as a 6 cyl to 8 cyl which I have lived with by installing an aftermarket tach
As the P3M eec does not appear to be supported for any upgrades I have been looking at the
the 94-95 Mustang GT and Cobra 5.0L using the following units CBAZA strategy -- T4M0, W4H0, U4P0, or J4J1
Looking at the pin outs for this swap it appears that pin out 34 for my circuit 305 which shows fuel consumption rates, which I don’t look at anyway, and pin out 32 for programmable ride, which does not exist. From this I assume the swap should be compatile.
Which unit would best suit my application. I would like to be able to add a little performance to this old truck
Thank for your help

You also have the option of runing a different catchcode binary, if it has a def, on your hardware.

What is the hardware code on P3M?

SMD-501 is the hardware code.

Now see what other catchcodes were loaded on that hardware. Hopefully one of them has a definition available.

Hi
Replaced EEC with T4M0 from 94 Mustang
changed MAF to match eec re pinned harness to match T4M0 and moved temp sensor to intake between MAF and TB
Have removed air pump but left the solenoid in place with no vacuum lines
All is working well and now would like to remove EGR system
what do I need to do
Thanks
Rick
