Anyone had issues reading EEC-IV EFI-SD44E

Post by 1gcrazy » Mon May 11, 2026 3:25 pm

I'm trying to get a read of this particular ECU, an F4TF-AKA, but for some reason I can't ever get a verified read via Flash & Burn. I CAN get a good read on other units. I've cleaned up the port with alcohol but i've run into this previously with an F2TF-DA EFI-SD48B. No matter what I did, I could never get a good read. At the time I thought it was because the unit was from A1 Cardone but now this new one is a good used unit. No capacitor damage even. So now i'm wondering wtf is going on with these? Everytime I verify with buffer, it fails. I even verify it in HXD and still something is different at random locations. What's interesting is I see a random 00 in front of another good string causing a large chuck to be offset by one byte. For example 2BB0-2BBF is:
91 04 9D C7 E4 FF C3 E4 FC 00 20 53 35 2A 04 38 on one
91 04 9D C7 E4 FF 00 C3 E4 FC 00 20 53 35 2A 04 on the next.

Thoughts?

No, and I don't believe it should be based on what I read from the Moates guys.

Moates have not tested on every EEC out there, so power it up and have another go.

I had about 10 go's before posting.
Now i'm running into another unit that wont read normally and I've verified it on two separate known good ECU's. Both ML2-304's. 1996 Mustang.

The insertion of bytes is unusual. Maybe some sort of baud rate or timing issue. Send an email to moates support to see if they have an explanation.
