A friend of mine just picked up a '95 Mustang 5.0 5spd. It's been pretty hacked up and had a check engine light. While poking around under the dash, I found an OBD-II port? I thought these things were still EEC-IV OBD-1? I plugged my scan tool into it, and it powered on, but couldn't establish any kind of communication. We tried a few different scan tools as well.
So I looked around under hood, and found the traditional EEC-IV test connector on the passenger side fender, jumped it, and got the codes (Fan circuit and TAB/TAD solenoid circuit. Both have been completely hacked up).
So that got me thinking of a couple of different scenarios:
Ford had some models (Maybe V6 ? ) with OBD-II, and they just left the nonfunctional OBD-II connector inside?
-or-
This car is a mashup of different interiors, and they left the OBD-II connector on the center stack?
Can anyone shed some light?

Re: 95 Mustang with OBD-II port?
On the 94-95 Mustangs the V-6 was OBD2 while the 5.0 remained OBD1. All 94-95 Mustangs had the OBD2 port under the dash. I believe ABS was tested via the OBD2 port.

Re: 95 Mustang with OBD-II port?

In case of European Fords at least. But anyway EEC-IV no OBD-II.. it has it's own protocol.

No, abs is also tested by the old port, just like the pcm.
