Read from Ford, weird noises

Post by cbrown9064 » Fri Mar 13, 2015 8:54 pm

Today was trying to get my Innovate to talk to BE via serial. Accidentally plugged the laptop into the breakout cable with the car on. Went to "Read from Ford" and it does read, but there is a weird "chattering" from the front of the car (1996 Cobra) near the fan.

Did I fried the PCM or is this normal, or due to a low car battery?

Some might call it a "bulkhead cable". It has the squarish "B" end on the bulkhead side and the mini on the QH side. I guess it is not really a true breakout, because it does have the mini on the QH, but since you cannot plug and unplug once the lid is on the PCM, I guess it could be called a breakout... ;)

Good to know about the noises. I took the laptop out to the engine bay and read it again and you could tell things were being actuated.

Thanks Decipha!
