EEC-IV pin sourcing

Post by yota1280 » Sat Jun 04, 2016 11:37 am

I am trying to find the pins for the 60 pin connector for the a9l fan hookup and wiring. I would prefer not to source a used one from the junk yard and have found several places where I can get them new, where I am lost is which pin to get. from what I can gather I need the female pins and I believe it is the .060 pin and not the .110 pin. I found the E7EB-14487-AA pins on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Wedgelock-Termina ... B-14487-AA are these the correct ones?

For the eec-iv stuff you need the 0.110 Dia pins. The 0.060 ones are for other connectors not your eec connector. Dorman 85346 is for a pack of 5 and you can order these at any parts store.

Make sure you're using the correct crimp tool otherwise you're better off using pins off of an existing assembly and splicing them into your harness.

well, I got the .110 pins and they are way too big. got the calipers out and the pins are around .070ish as best I can measure them. I am assuming the pins I listed earlier are the correct ones...

How do you know you have the wrong ones? Have you tried them? Take a picture of the old and new. The reason I ask is the pin inside the eec is what's supposed to be .110" the od of the pin will be larger than that. It's possible you have the wrong terminals in your connector currently. Try pushing one of the new terminals over a pin in the ecu it should slide nicely with s small amount of drag. Then try the same with one of the originals.

The male pins in the eec-iv's here, are consistantly 0.075" OD.

Yep, i have spare ecu's and tried one of the pins on one of the connectors. Flopped around on the pins. Got the .060 in yesterday and they are too tight (which i am sure some of you might have already known.) When i get home today i will do some more measuring to see whats going on. Thanks for the help so far

The .060 pins fit, just had a sticky point and didnt want to go on initally. Played around with it for a bit and it will slide on just fine now. Pins i got were from the link i posted earlier

Ive purchased those before except from here http://www.barnonediesel.com/index.php? ... t_id=13006

They absolutely do not fit.

The terminals i got from bar none diesel

The OD of the pins in the ECU

Image
The ID of the pins themselves

There is NO way you can get a pin with a 0.015" size difference will fit without being forced. Maybe the ones i have are different, but they were ordered using the same part number you did, and there is no way to make them work for the EEC-IV connector.

I'm trying to source these EEC-IV PCM female terminals too. Yota1280, did you ever find the correct terminals? Got a part#?
If it's worth doing, it's probably not easy.
