Can BE be removed and ..SOLVED!
A week ago, I had an issue with my Binary Editor software. Now in my attempts to fix it, I have made matters worse. Can I remove just the Binary Editor software leaving all of its companion programs in place without messing up my USB dongle?
I assume that in my old Windows 10 OS laptop, that I could go to the add/remove programs and remove /uninstall Binary Editor then reinstall just Binary Editor without doing damage to or make my USB dongle unusable? I would assume that the dongle WOULD NOT be plugged into the USB port for removing then adding the Binary Editor program.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Unplug the USB dongle, then uninstall / reinstall BE with windows add/remove programs.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Yes, I've had the dongle unplugged during the uninstall. It is a little odd to me that these are the programs in the BE folder that were left behind after the uninstall.
Then last night, I tried a dozen times to reinstalled or download BE and kept getting this message:
After that, I went into edge/flags and switched one that I thought would allow the file to download etc., and allowed 3rd party cookies in another part of settings and have even dropped a firewall. And restarted the laptop after the changes.
Al the moment, I feel real vulnerable online.
I should be able to reload BE.
Thanks John for your help.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Try downloading the Binary Editor installer from eecanalyzer.net
Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I have no idea why you can't download it. You should still have the download you used to install it originally?
Once downloaded, right click on it, choose properties then uncheck blocked. Then run as admin to install it.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I've just gone to eec analyzer site and attempted the same download, and it acts the same. This laptop is saving it as a WordPad file?
That is the oddest thing. And unconfirmed? Every attempt has done this. and it took 10 minutes to load the WordPad doc and all that I have is what looks like alien gibberish...

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Make sure the file name is BE_Install.exe when you save it.
Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
And just now, another attempt. I've got to get ready for work. I'll look at this again this evening.
Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
And I checked the Windows smart screen settings... I'm wide open vulnerable. I'm going to log off the net for now and read this from the desktop pc at work during lunch.
Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I was doing a quick scan of the Binary Editor folder, and I see this file that came from somewhere within this past week and has placed itself in the BE folder. What in the world is this that starts with RH. The file is quite large.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
That is microsoft FUD.
You can paste the BE download link into virustotal to scan the BE installer.
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url
Looks out of place. Ask Clint or Core.
You can upload the file to virustotal to scan it.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I attempted to download the file at work and in the Edge browser, it did the same malfunction as it did at the home laptop.
Then I decided to open our Firefox browser that hasn't been used for a while, now I've got this: Now I'm going to order a SanDisk USB Flash drive memory stick to move the file.
Also, in the picture of the BE folder contents, (a few posts up from here) should every one of those items be deleted before the fresh install?
I wish that Clint or one of you other people of the creator group could give me advice.
John has been really helpful but I'm not sure if he would know those real specific "author" questions/answers.
Thanks John and Bob!

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Thanks John, it will be a few days before I can. The USB flash drive is on its way so that I can load the program onto it off of my old work desktop pc. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again, Greg

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I have loaded a fresh copy of Binary Editor, and everything seems ok up to this point with exception of the desktop start icon becoming inoperable forcing me to reload the program.
It opens this, but that is it. Am I missing something?

And this has happened again. I don't see a way to run BE from the file folder.
This was double clicking on the desktop icon: And it won't work from here:

I almost think that I see a Windows Defender shield attached to the BE icon. My firewalls are down.

Create a new desktop shortcut if need be.
You can close the web update dialog unless you want those downloads.

Right click then run it as administrator.
Right click it and select properties then see if any ms security settings are getting in the way.

When I right click it and then click "run as administrator", it does the same thing. I've only ever had one desktop shortcut icon.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I created a new desktop shortcut, and it won't work.
So far, I have to reload the entire software packet to be able to open it just once.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Silly question...have you got the dongle plugged in?
Click on the security tab and advanced button, see if there are settings to change that will allow it to run.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
Silly question #2 - is the BinaryEditor.exe file in the C:\BinaryEditor folder?
Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I moved the big BE file from documents to the folder in (C) labeled Binary Editor. No change.
I right clicked on the shortcut numbered (2) and clicked on security and got this message: I have plugged in the dongle, double clicked on the desktop shortcut and still this message pictured below. Same thing.
I have to reinstall to get it to open, then it won't load past the update/s screen and then the desktop icon/shortcut is dead.
Doing a complete reinstall now and the dongle/key is out for this. In the past, I've had the key in when I was booting up the installed program. In the past (last year), I've seen in the Leech videos, him showing you around in the program and then he says, "oh, you have to have your dongle plugged in for that", so that leads me to assume that one could boot up the already installed program without the dongle.
During this reload, and before, I clicked on the "repair" button.
I have a new desktop icon, but it has that darned defender shield attached. I'm plugging in the dongle and going to open the program.
Comment: I think Defender is causing problems. If there is a way to switch the entire Windows Defender program off, I would. Also, I would delete win Defender if it would make it where I could get Binary Editor loaded and functioning successfully. Then I would switch OFF wi-fi and just use this laptop standalone for BE. We just ordered my wife a new laptop. She can get online with it.
Plugging in the dongle and starting BE...
This is the first time that BE has loaded this far and given me this screen. The reloads wiped out my BEBs.
I was about to do a snip of the work screen, then the updates screen popped up and the main BE screen went away and not able to see it again.
I'm going to close the program, then see if the desktop shortcut will work again. I'm betting not. And I say that because it looks like this. NOPE! GOING TO HAVE TO RELOAD ENTIRE PROGRAM AGAIN.
I must get ready and go to work. Peak heat index today will be 105F. I'll try again this evening.
One of you "Windows" specialist enlighten me about Windows Defender. It is altering the BE program. It has to be with the altered desktop icon pictured above.
ADDED 10 minutes later: I found my "working" BEBs that I had placed in another folder. The total reboot must not can get to them.

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I'm here on my shop pc. I executed the BE software. After it was installed, I clicked on the shortcut. It all loaded and opened with just the updates page. I closed the program. I tried to use the desktop shortcut, and it is dead too. Two machines in a row doing this?

Re: Can BE be removed and added back...
I have emailed Clint two day ago with some questions before I did a reload. I emailed him a 2nd time letting him know where this thread is that I have going with this most current issue.
I have everything in Windows security and Windows defender switched off.
https://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+ ... nt=gws-wiz
I just now went back to Core Tuning and attempted a fresh download. I know must go into windows security and windows defender and get my protections back in place. I can't afford to put any more time into this. I'm hoping that someone else that is having the same problem comes along so that we can figure out what is wrong,
On this laptop just over a year ago, I downloaded BE without ant problem and installed it and it was working flawlessly. I'm stumped!
