I have had trouble logging into this site today.

Post by MrsJones » Sun Jul 07, 2024 10:24 am

I tried logging into this site a bit ago and Chrome wouldn't let me. I reset the date on this PC to yesterday and that's why I'm here now. Something about a certificate.... I think.

Someone should know.

I noticed just now that FireFox is giving me a security warning about the certificate. My guess is it expired and Jon hasn't noticed to renew it. I wouldn't be surprised if Chrome is just out-right preventing you from viewing the site, while FF just warns, but allows it. It's done this before. I'll message Jon and see what can be done.

Jon responded and said that he has a script that runs to maintain the site certificate without his intervention. It's evidently something that happens frequently enough that he automated it. Well for some reason, that script was failing to run. He looked into it and fixed whatever was causing it to not perform the update and it should be fixed now.

I found some humor in this! I started to log into the site, just now, and the site wouldn't let me because the date in my PC was wrong.... imagine that. All is well.
