Dongle Options

BinaryEditor and EEC Analyzer are both packed with awesome features, but if you can think of another cool feature to aide in EEC Tuning or some improvement to an existing feature, cough it up here.

Dongle Options

Post by AaronDC » Sat Jan 28, 2012 4:41 pm

I want to preface this thread by saying it is not an anti-dongle thread. I can appreciate why Clint and Adam want to go in that direction. And I can appreciate the end-user benefits of having a dongle.

I have used other software (various engineering softwares) that require a dongle. My biggest complaint is that the dongles are generally sized like a typical USB thumb drive. They seem to be the perfect size for breaking off. Especially when you're moving the laptop around like you might do in a car. I haven't received my BE dongle yet, so I don't know exactly what it looks like.

My suggestion:

There are very low profile USB flash drives that can be purchased these days.

For example: http://www.amazon.com/Cruzer-Fit-SDCZ33 ... B005FYNSZA

Any chance the dongle could be made from one of those?

Most laptops have SD card slots now. Any chance the dongle could be integrated into an SD card? Then nothing has to be hanging out of the USB port.

The dongle only protrudes out of the laptop approx 8mm or 5/16" at its furtherest point and it's like a half moon shape, it's very compact.

Awesome! It sounds like Clint was a step ahead of me.

I hope other software sellers begin to go that route as well.

Like I mentioned on the phoine to you, dongle size was a prerequisite as I have broken too many S CT dongles, that won't be a problem with ours.
