Long idle goes into OL issue

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Long idle goes into OL issue

Post by nitrouspete » Wed Jan 15, 2020 7:28 pm

I have been having some issues trying sort out a cold start which seems to start off well and then not so good as the car is warming up.
The car seems to warm to an idle in closed loop at a AFR of 15 and then will jump into a open loop which leans out at 19-20 AFR. This will happen the longer I let it to idle. It's winter here in Montreal so I will not be driving it until all the snow melts. I have been trying to sort this out for a while. Can some one please look at my latest tune and data log and maybe help me sort it out. I would really like to keep the car in closed loop idle all of the time if that's possible.

Thank you,

Your fueling is not dialed in. Also you are going into closed loop at 56* ECT. That is way too early in my opinion.

Paulie,

Thanks for taking a look. I will be trying to sort out some of the fueling as time permits. Will post again after some more testing.

Hi Paulie,

Weather is getting better and will start driving soon. Roads need to be fixed from winter abuse up here in Montreal (potholes). Anyway, what could be getting my car to go into closed loop at such a cold ECT temp? I will try to get car out for a drive this weekend.
