Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Wanted: CBAZA tune for EFI 460

Post by Jtab » Fri Nov 29, 2024 3:58 pm

Hey all -

Winter has finally arrived so my tinker-time is over. I have a 1992.5 F250 that was converted to mass air, and I want it to run like it originally did in 1992. I'm specifically looking for cold startup and idle fueling.

First problem is it doesn't do high idle at cold start. It responds to buzz rpm and buzz time, but it doesn't respond to rpm vs ect table or rpm vs act table.

Second problem is it idles very rich. I do not have a wideband so I am nervous to tweak fuel or timing tables. If you have an efi 460 that idles at stoich I am also interested.

I enjoy playing with the tune but right now I want it to just work. Willing to pay for something that works right.

Thanks for your time.
- Joe

You can tune idle, and low load part throttle fuel based on the narrow band O2s.

I don't know where where to start with that.

Can you give or share a tutorial on how to do this? Idle fuel is killing me. Are there scalars that I need to adjust to let it tune itself?

I've heard that a well-tuned engine will not smell rich even without cats, so I think my engine is over-fueling.

This is not true. Even a well tuned engine has enough hydrocarbons in the exhaust to smell rich without cats.
