Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Any EECIV SD stangs not come with a VSS wired to the EEC?

Post by 93Cobra#2771 » Fri Oct 14, 2005 10:19 am

On another forum, someone is claiming that if a stang didn't come with cruise control, they didn't have a VSS (specifically on speed density cars) going to the EEC. I say BS, but I thought I'd ask and see. Figure if anyone knows, Dale will.

SD Mustangs did not have a VSS connected to the EEC.

So if the car did not have cruise, no VSS was installed.

Well, crap, guess I get to go and eat some crow.

What about the EEC diagram, Ryan?

So the EEC had NO speed reference if there was no cruise? How was the "idle up" feature implemented? How did the car keep from dying when slowing down from speed?

That diagram is a general overview for all those cars.
I left out emissions, shift lights, A/C, and data center circuits (all not needed to start the car)
Remember my web site was started for people swaping Ford EFI into older vehicles.

Look at his page: http://fordfuelinjection.com/5.0Lpinouts.html
Only the crown vic and T-bird had Speed Density w/ VSS

I can confirm that my first 87LX without cruise control had no VSS sensor. When I did the MAF conversion on it, It took me about a week to deterimine that there was a missing VSS sensor causing the engine to die all the time.
