Logging Spark Source questions
Hi guys,
In a recent thread sailorbob described the sources of spark that can be captured in a log for CBAZA. And CBAZA32.xls now has the descriptions he provided included. Over the weekend I was able to capture a log of about 70 minutes long and the chart below shows the count of spark source by code for all of the 40K plus lines in the log:
Count-------SPK_SOURCE------Description
16425-------11--Oscillation modulation modifying base
13006--------1--Base
6029---------9--Idle feedback
1753---------8--Idle feedback at minimum clip
1599---------15--?
1062---------12--Oscillation modulation modifying borderline
457-----------2--Borderline
10-------------5--Vehicle speed limiter torque truncation (if not using torque control)
2--------------3--Torque control (if using torque control) or Tip-in torque truncation (if not using torque control)
I have 2 questions:
1) I can't find spark source "15" and you can see I have 1599 entries in the log. Is it bad data or an as yet to be defined source?
2) "Oscillation modulation" - what is it and what's driving it?

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
I can't find any mention of spark source of "15".
From CRAI8:
OSCMOD stands for oscillation modulation. Engine torque is modulated via spark advance as a function of the rate of change of
rpm in order to stabilize oscillations in rpm. This is a derivative control method and functions as a dashpot. This correction
may be useful during closed throttle or negative crowd decelerations to control shuffle. It can also be used without
interference with feedback spark. The areas and magnitude of correction are controlled by non-zero values in FN2020.

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
sailorbob, any ideas?

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
I cannot see 15 used in the CBAZA code but it seems odd for it to occur so many times and yet be an error

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
I was waiting for you to weigh in on this - thanks. I dunno either. I wish I knew what to change to reduce the "modulation".sailorbob wrote:I cannot see 15 used in the CBAZA code but it seems odd for it to occur so many times and yet be an error

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
How about 15 = Output State Control
Now what that is I am not quite sure yet. :)

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
15 = Vehicle speed limiter torque truncation with oscillation modulation
Re: Logging Spark Source questions
Wow, thanks Derek. I forgot I even ever asked about that.

Re: Logging Spark Source questions
Me too but it popped up whilst I was looking for something else so I thought I'd answer it
