Read Chip and Copy to Quarterhorse

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Read Chip and Copy to Quarterhorse

Post by geargambler » Sun Feb 17, 2019 11:17 am

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to read the calibration from a Diablosport J3 chip and copy that calibration onto the Quarterhorse.

There's another thread on this that got me started: viewtopic.php?t=22200
However, that thread is for CBAZA / T4M0. (56k buffers).

Here is where I am for steps:
I currently have: Binary Editor Licensed, FlashNBurn, TunerProRT licensed, the Jaybird and a Quarterhorse.

Drivers are correct for the Jaybird, and it recognizes the diablosport chip. Drivers are also good for the quarterhorse.
Flash and burn will read the chip into buffer, buffer addressing is for 256k: Chip Addressing 000000-03FFFF and buffer addressing 000000-03FFFF.
Read chip is successful, and Save Buffer to file yields a 256k .bin file.

In TunerProRT, loaded the CVAF1 XDF (the diablosport Chip should have a calibration from a 99 Cobra - CVAE7 ZMR2 ECU). No ADX or any other changes.

Here's where I have the problem. Loading the .bin into TunerPro gives the same values for all fields in the tables. For example, spark base is -0.5 for every field, and no column / row values (all zero). I've loaded LCHA_171130a_STARTUP.bin and I can see it fine, everything looks good.

The diablosport chip has a three position switch with it - not a dial, more like left / center / right.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Tunerpro uses adx/xdf files vs Binary Editor xlsx/.bin files. Two totally different animals and setups. The BE .bins should be 56k. I "think" the TP files are 256k but not 100% sure since I only use BE.

It depends on the binary. EEC-IV is usually 56k or 64k, and EEC-V can be 128k or 256k.

The XDF can be any size, depending on the number of values that are defined.

I'm pretty sure this EEC (for the 99 cobra) was 256. unless its some bastard size.

I read somewhere about stacking tunes. I just don't know if it's some issue with the way I'm reading the chip or what.

My ultimate goal is to take the chip out of my 03 cobra (was there when I bought the car) and move that calibration to the quarterhorse. Then I can start with some upgrades I have planned!
