CBAZ0 - AFR good in drive but too lean in neutral

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

CBAZ0 - AFR good in drive but too lean in neutral

Post by jestang » Sat Feb 23, 2019 11:00 am

As the subject says, my truck seems to run well in drive but when I shift it to neutral (at idle) the AFRs seem to go very lean. What have I screwed up in the tune to cause this?

Also, the calculated hp & tq in BE is very high like the scaling is off somewhere. How do I get this back inline?

Setup-> 95 f150 with CBAZ0/hug2 calibration, 5.0/4r70w, ported iron heads with oversized valves, tfs 1 camshaft, s-trim, 80 lb siemens injectors (oversized for my setup but I originally had the intention of running e85 -> also the only injector data I could find for these was data for the ford racing 80 lb injectors but I'm not sure this data is correct), pmas hpx maf in a 3" tube, stock converter, 4.10 rear

I should follow up by saying that I currently have forced it to open loop only and I believe the commanded afr along with the maf values are the same yet the actual afr is very lean when in neutral.

I have a similar problem that I have NEVER been able to trace down, mine is a CBAZA also. Mine appears to go VERY lean at idle after an 45-60 min run time . I have changed ecu's , fuel system and on and on.
under load all seems OK. but will sometimes get so lean as to miss.
cold start and run is rich.
