Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Stock bins

Post by scott88 » Wed Jul 27, 2022 10:54 am

Hi Folks,

I am a long time member who hasn't been on in awhile because I had to sell my 88 coupe back in 2020 after a messy divorce. I am looking at purchasing a 1999 to 04 GT or Cobra next summer and I wanted to study up on the differences in the computer compared to what I was running in my 88 (A9P modified with a Quarrterhorse and Binary Editor). I had my coupe running awesome (10.98/127 mph and idled awesome never bucked or stalled) after years of tuning and I miss it dearly. I had to sell it for $5k, if you can believe it. It was worth MUCH more than that.

Anyway, can someone point me to any stock strategies and/or stock bins for the 99-04 cars on here anywhere? Or is someone has one relatively stock could I see it? I'm not looking for any modified bins as this vehicle will be completely stock when I buy it. I just want to learn what the differences are for when I begin tuning the one I buy next year, if possible. Lol I like to prepare well in advance for things. I still have the binary editor dongle and can look at tunes.

Thanks so much for any info you can share,

Scott

PS- I have been on a site that lists the different strategies but I don't know which ones the 99-04's use (CVAF1?)

My ecm is ryak1/zya2 in my mach 1. I would contact Ben at coretuning to see if he can send you an unlocked tune to study on. Alot of people used sct/bama tunes on the 99-04 cars.

Thanks I will definitely reach out to him. I’m just hoping I don’t have to completely relearn everything I learned over the years with the EEC-IV I have quite an extensive amount of notes on all the tuning I did.

efidyontuning.com has the FBGIO strategy and the stock MGZT .bin as well as abundant info on how to use the fbgi0.xdf. He uses Tunerpro. I'm using it for an F150 because there's a lot of stuff to play with and it works with my cluster.

I'm sort of surprised this resource hasn't been mentioned in this thread by now. Is this a binary editor centric forum? Background tuner drama? Tell me all of the details

I use BE and I’m not sure I’m interested in learning tuner pro at this point, but I guess if I have to I would. I’ve been in contact with Michael who runs that site quite a bit.

They each have their merits. I kind of prefer the tune building of TunerPro because I loathe staring at spreadsheets, as well as the ability to create patch code so easily.

Ive used both binary editor and tunerpro. My personal choice is tunerpro. The only thing binary editor is better at is going over datalogs, in my opinion.

I’ve looked at TP a couple years ago after I downloaded it but never actually used it on the car I had at the time. So I’m not entirely unfamiliar with it but I spent ~10 years working with BE so it became almost second nature. If tuner pro makes it easier to tune whatever car I get next, then of course I’d use it.
