Does no clutch switch effect tune
My clutch switch has been a little erratic and my car is staying in dashpot mode at idle. If I force neutral by setting TRLOAD to no clutch or gear switch will it affect anything else or will I even notice? (A9L/T5) Thanks

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
I'm not sure this helps or not but I have my switch harness shorted at the connector so I don't have to press the clutch when starting. I just removed the harness plug from the switch and installed a small jumper into the connector. Perhaps if you try this it may cure the problem or lead you to a different area of concern.
Edit: I don't think it effects the tune, IMO.

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
Setting TRLOAD 0 does not affect part throttle and WOT settings from my observations.
I swapped from AOD to 3550 tremec 5spd. I had all sorts of wierd idle inconsistnecies. How much of this was due to my TRLOAD setting vs idle fueling (and too high of a tps voltage at closed throttle), I'm not sure. I also have left the AOD harness in the car, and jumped the PRNDL switch so it will start.
But, once I set TRLOAD to 0, it did seem to help making dialing in idle fuel & air easier. Entering idle control is now based on closed throttle detected and Vehicle speed.

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
I set TRLOAD to 0 and didn't notice any difference other than the car consistently going into rpm control idle instead of staying in dashpot mode. I will replace the clutch switch but I don't know if I will bother changing TRLOAD back.

For what it's worth, SCT's PRP program recommends setting TRLOAD to zero on all manual cal's, or if switching to stick from an automatic.

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
I'm curious what the difference between setting 3 and 4 are from a controls point of view. I ask because my tune is setup for 3 (one switch) however my truck actually has both a clutch switch AND a neutral switch at the transmission suggesting that maybe I should have this set for 4?
Logically the two switches are 1 since they are wired together and come into the EEC on the same pin. So I'm just confused as to why the EEC has a distinction between the two unless some vehicles/EECs separate these switches out onto separate input pins.
Back to the OP's use of 0 to force neutral without an input, this would negate some things I've done in my tune to hold the RPMs higher while in drive vs neutral. While idling, I don't mind if the engine hovers around 600RPMs. But when in drive at closed throttle, I prefer the targeted RPM be a bit higher (i.e. 1st gear creep in stop-n-go traffic)...so I enjoy the distinction between idle and drive.

Re: Does no clutch switch effect tune
I'm a relative newbie, but I can defintely see that not having a Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) affects the tune, in regards to idle timing. I've installed a Cobra T56 trans, and it doesn't have a provision for the NSS. I noticed, at idle, that my timing was static, and posted about it in this forum, yesterday. When I switched to TRLOAD to 0 (no clutch or gear switch) or 2 (one clutch or gear switch), idle timing worked. When it was set to the A9L default of 3 (both switches work), it kept timing static. I believe this was due to being in 'dashpot mode', whatever that means.
The takeaway is that because both the clutch switch and the NSS are both, supposedly, on the same circuit, yes... the not having the clutch switch will affect your tune.
