Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

tweecer still tweecing out

Post by dynoman » Fri Sep 02, 2005 1:02 am

I have been experiencing a problem for some time now. I thought I had it fixed but it seems to have come back. This is a problem where the the eec/tweecer, not sure which will just go wacky. What happens is is the car just goes pig rich, the tweecer gives me a lot of wacky numbers in the maf, ect, pw, rpm all give me some really wierd numbers. MAF #'s vary from 1000-6000. ect shows negative numbers, pw shows anything from 2-20. This happens is when i get on the throttle. Sometimes it's just a big buck, (almost like a masive detonationor just a shut down of spark for a minute) but this can happen a part throttle even before I get into the boost and it has never seemed to hurt the motor. I believe if it was a detonation, I would have kicked out a head gasket or put a hole in a piston by now. I thought I had the problem fixed with a MAFX tune but it seems to have come back. Haven't driven the car in the last 5 months because it has been over 100 degrees here in phoenix (tends to overheat).

JuiceSC/86GT: you guys helped me with my MAFX a while ago and thanks. I thought that helped but after more tweecing it is back. When the care runs good, it's fast as hell. I have a pretty agressive tune which makes the car run like an ape. full on bad ass,(12.62 129 in 1/4 mile on stree tires) but when it wacks out, it's a POS. I think I have the injector slopes, offsets, and load scale dialed in pretty good

Could this be a grounding problem?
Could this still be where it wrapes the MAFx and puts the care in limp (i don't think this is limp because the care just goes full on rich).
Could it be a bad tweecer? If it's a bad tweecer can I get it reflashed?

Help.

I have way too much $$$ wraped up into this to quit now.

I'd guess an intermittent J3 connection. Maybe when you get on it, the vibrations cause intermittents.
