Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Transmission load type ? what value here

Post by 89ragtopgt » Sun Sep 11, 2005 7:45 pm

Ok i have been playing around and was logging the car with the factory a9l bin loaded in and i was watching the timing.. it was super stable and did not change at idle responded very well with the throttle. it seems to idle higher that the value set in the scaler. The setting in that scaler is 3. Now i have been tuning the car with that value set to 0 and then the timing varies and is not that stable 17-21deg. the idle is lower and very close to the one i set in the scaler. could someone pleae verify by changing the value in your scaler and let me know what happens? or if someone can explain what these settings do. It seems to do a lot for such a simple item and there is not a lot of info on this item.

All of the transmission load type settings are explained in the A9L (GFUB) strategy guide on page 9-5.

ok is this it
TRLOAD = Transmission Load.

0 = Manual Transmission, no clutch or gerar switches,

forced neutral state (NDSFLG = 0).

1 = Manual Transmission, no clutch or gear switch.

2 = Manual Transmission, one clutch or gear switch.

3 = Manual Transmission, both clutch and gear switches.

4 = Auto Transmission, non-electronic, neutral drive switch.

5 = Auto Transmission, non-electronic, neutral pressure switch,

(AXOD).

6 = Auto Transmission, electronic, PRNDL sensor - park, reverse,

neutral, overdrive, manual 1, manual 2.
ok what do these inputs do to the eec .... does it add timing and or rpm bases on these switches? i think mine are disconnected. should i reinstall these for proper operation?

ok now there is also transmission strategy as well. these scalars are both activated by opening or closing a switch. it make some sense that on the clutch linkage there is 2 connections for the 2 switches. so when connected and you push the clutch in it must make or break the connection and then the motor idles up a bit to prevent stalls in conjunction with the vss sensor? I guess one way is to connect both switches up and try unpluging one at a time to see how it reacts.
