fords new gt-40 program

Post by blown54 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 4:50 pm

Our building has been working on a short deck v-10 with 4 valve heads for the new to be released GT-40 and this v-10 natrually asperated motor makes near 500 hp.I seen the motor running in a test mustang gt with a 6 speed and i would say she's a real screamer how about low twelves at around 123 mph spinning the tires all the way down the track. The other alternative is a 5.4l supercharged motor like the lightning (but not the power output of the V-10)only better maybe an aluminum block.Whats your take on this guys anyone interested in the v-10 i believe from what i have seen of this motor it would put the car up to Aston Martin Vanquish teritory. Where the 5.4 would be like a modified Cobra R(not that theres anything wrong with the Cobra R).what would you like to see?

It certainly makes more sense to have an N/A motor powering the GT40 than an Eaton equipped 5.4. 500hp out of the 5.4 is great and all, but IMHO it doesn't make much sense from a durability standpoint for long track sessions....

you are so right on that, thats why we would like the v-10, would make more sense since the cars original heritage as being a track performer. If I can get enough responses like this to show the higher ups that this is what people like to see in it that would be great.right now Colietti is pitching for the 5.4l supercharged and we need the higher ups to see the light on this, just because the lightning runs great(i owned a 99) dosen't mean a motor like this would work in a car of this magnitude.

As for pics,I'm not letting out what I got unless it can be cleared from prototype devision.I will find out if another prototype show car is going to the North American Autoshow like the one they just did in Vegas. It was a sporty four door.if they do,when I go to that show i'll post some pics of that motor its still the same that they had in a test mustang.

I vote for the V-10, and the owners can always add a blower or turbos afterwards! :D Will there be a V-10 at the Chicago Auto Show? 8)

I saw a V-10 2 valve sitting on a engine stand at a FORD training centre, the thing is massive, how did you ever get it into a mustang? it must weigh a ton.
