I got Jon to install some additional emoticons.
They should show up by default now when you are making a new post or response. However if they are too noisy, I can remove them from the main screen but still make the available via the View more smilies link.
Notice there is a few that I did hide in that link because they were just too big or too closely related to the ones we already had. But let me know what you think. And if you find any on the Internet you would like added, post a link to them and I'll see if I can work with Jon to get those incorporated into the forum as well.

Re: New Emoticons
No, he updated the forum software (which most users wouldn't see), but the whole cause of the forum being down was bad RAID array in the server. So Jon had to move the forum to a different machine. And while doing that, he just did forum software upgrades. I also got him to install those additional emoticons while the hood was up. I collected those off of SBFTech and a few other places. But no, the site being down for 2 days wasn't to put more emoticons on the site.

Re: New Emoticons
Bumping an ancient thread, because it mentions the smilies. Is it just me, or do many of the smilies not display properly? Here's what I see, both on my laptop (Win7) and my desktop (Win8), using both IE and Firefox.

Obviously it's not the end of the world, but some of the ones that are particularly useful for expressing what I'm feeling (confusion and frustration!
) aren't showing up for me. Am I the only one, or is this a known problem addressed in some other thread that my searching didn't find?

Re: New Emoticons
The forum believes they are still installed, but the server doesn't actually have the actual picture files on its HD anymore. It's one of those things that never got restored when the server died a year or so ago. And since I don't have access to the server itself, I can't fix this. Only Jon could. I just haven't pressured him to do so.
