Innovate Motorsports or Summit racing bait and switch
I purchased a innovate Motorsports Usb to serial cable from summit racing for $34.99. Looked real nice. Blue connectors with a silver cable( Sewell logo). I received a P.O.S knock off(iocrest). offered on ebay for $2.99+ shipping. Summit offered to send a new one. Just came in the mail. SAME iocrest P.O.S. Now summit claims they can't guarantee the item in the picture will be sent. Even though there was no disclaimer stating the picture was not the actual part.

Re: Innovate Motorsports or Summit racing bait and switch
I don't know anything other than what's been presented here, but that does sound like a pretty bad bait-n-switch. I'd certainly be asking for a refund if they cannot supply what's represented in the picture.
I've never had any issues with Summit like this. I don't know if this was an honest mistake in their marketing and procurement dept thinking the two parts are interchangeable or if this is an indication of a downward trend for Summit.
In their defense, if the part they sent you can do/function exactly the same as what's pictured, then they may be thinking this is a light-duty product that isn't intended to be used more than a few times. However if this will be a regularly used cable, then quality build construction is a major part of what you are paying for, not just the technical functionality. When I don't need high quality, I just need occasional functionality, I don't mind buying Harbor Freight quality products and take advantage of the cost savings. But I certainly don't want to pay name-brand price and get a Harbor Freight quality product.
BTW, I moved this topic to the lounge since it is not a post asking for technical feedback on a hardware problem you are working with. It's more general discussion/feedback about a popular supplier.
