Well having been fooled (but only on the surface as I didn't look) by a duplicate post of mine, I can only agree. When it comes to ANY link ANYWHERE I am always suspicious of what is there. We get regular spam and phishing emails, many look totally genuine, and here in New Zealand, the scammers even scrape official govt pages and keep all the 'help' type links as original, only the 'login' or 'pay here' are changed. I am sure that happens everywhere for on-line services.

Re: F'n spammers!
The amount of spam is getting ridiculous and needs addressing. Maybe a change of how to sign up as a member is required and some aggressive blocking of IP ranges used by the spammers.
Re: F'n spammers!
I know, I know...the server itself is actually experiencing quite high load and I am (because of monitors I have setup) been getting constant pings to my primary email for a good couple months now.
I have been working on a complete revamp and refactor of the site and will have this fixed with that. Because of that, I have been trying to put as little effort into the current site as possible. Literally most free moments I have had the last couple months have been spent on me developing the new site/app. I decided it was time to put some real work and investment into this place...I just ask for some patience for the next 2-3 more months.
I have backups I download from the site weekly to my local computer (plus ones being automatically triggered to store on AWS S3 every week)...so worst case scenario I can recover the site. Right now its a lot of spam and I appreciate the mods helping with that immensely. It will all be fixed soon and so much more....
If it truly becomes unmanageable I will spend some time to fix it but right now I am hoping to limp along until the new site is finished and deployed. By all means though please keep me updated if things change here more...I am monitoring it.

Re: F'n spammers!
There for a while, I was deleting posts multiple times a day, each time 10, 20, or 30 posts at a time. Fortunately I'm not having to delete each individual post. I go to each user, and simply delete all posts by that user. This can be dangerous if the account isn't new and instead is hijacked. So far the vast majority of the spamming is from newly created accounts so the only posts they have are spam posts.
I'm sure it has or will happen that an existing user account with legitimate posts will have its password compromised and I'll wind up inadvertently deleting real posts. I'm hoping I don't, but any time humans have to get involved, human error is a potential especially when I was having to clear the spam as many times a day as I was there for a while.
