I just purchased a 2500 sq ft 4BR 3BA custom built home circa 1949, this house is SOLID, had a fellow inspector do the home inspection and found 2 deficiencies which is phenomenal, its typical to find 30+ usually. There's an asbestos insulated mat underneath the a/c unit in the attic, and a damaged gutter on the west side of the roof
House was appraised at 228k I got it for 165k put 20% down so i didn't have to pay MPI with a fixed rate 15 year mortgage in which i intend to make double payments, i'll have this house paid off before im 30.
home is located across the street from the saints training camp in the suburbs of new orleans some 4 miles away, home is not in a flood zone and wasn't affected by katrina. But most importantly, 60% of the backyard is slabbed, can put 10+ cars back there any no one would ever know it, convenient because i have such to fill the void.
start young end young!, if anyone is tempted to buy a house now is the time
just thought i'd share
btw, post 2200
