Hey Everyone,
Well I guess this is about 2 weeks later than I said I would respond -- that is just about how my scheduling is right now. I apologize to anyone who has been waiting on a response.
To start with, I would like everyone to know that I have tried to 'engage' a couple of individuals whose knowledge of tuning is on par with my own and in a case or two probably exceeds my knowledge by quite a bit. No one was interested, not even with cold hard $$$ waived in front of their face. I understand their reasons for not accepting but it has put us far behind where we wanted to be in that area. So the LACK of tuning documentation is not due to lack of effort and I attempted the afore mentioned method due to the simple fact that I just do not have time - a word that has new meaning to me. It is an extrememly valuable commodity around here right now. I am an individual trying to do the tasks of many. I have a few associates that have been very valuable and I thank them.
The manual was NEVER ment to be a tuning document and never will be, its purpose is to get the hard ware installed and operational and explain what the features of the software are. It has lagged over the last 4+ months as the software has. I should have NEVER released 1.19 -- it was rushed and not tested at all really. I came close to making the same mistake with 1.20 and realized that I had gotten away from my normal development steps. 1.20 is now in its 2nd Beta release and has been very stable - though there are still a few bugs in the dynamic payloads for a few of the processors A9M family mostly. I really need to add a couple more features, but they may have to be put off for 1.2x. Nol Cobb has a copy of it and will get the screen shots, etc updated as soon as he can.
I have started documents that were going to be given as a 'flow chart' of the steps involved in tuning and branch off for each type of application:
Naturally Aspirated
Centrifugal SC
Turbo
NOS
and of course converge where applicable. It just never seemed to be detailed enough and then when I thought about describing the functions that I understood and knew what they did and affected, I found that when I got outside of the EECIV I was pretty ignorant. Even with some of the 'proprietary' info that has been shared with me, it is a huge undertaking to sift through some of this as it is NOT presented in a format that is easily digested. Most of it I cannot share simply due to the sources of the info and the implications that it could mean for them -- job loss, law suits.
My main question to all is, what do you want more, a primer on the ways of EEC operation or the description and details of the functions, tables and scalars used in controlling the EEC?? If the latter, then only the ones that we use in tuning will be covered -- up to about 50 per strategy -- the rest are all (for the most part) fluff. The expert/novice option should help out there.
For the operational documentation, the Probst book is still the best out there and most of the theory applies to all engine management. Some of it is not applicable any longer. I have been told recently that there is a book similar to the Probst for the late model EECV's but they could not recall it and I do not know if they were referring to the Kotzig book or not.
I guess my main point in this rambling is that we can and will get there and I do not expect anyone else to do this work for us -- tried that. Anyone who has expressed the will to attempt any helpful documents for noobs or anyone -- we sincerely appreciate your efforts.
We are open to all kinds of input and will be happy to setup an email address to send any related comments and suggestions to -- or setup a forum on the UBB specifically for it??
I am sorry if I have not addressed any specific comments or thoughts from the thread in which this is directed, it was not done on purpose and I will be glad to attempt to respond to any re-submitted comments. Lets keep this thread alive if needed and we can move towards something that anyone that wants to tune or just understand WTF their EEC is doing can garner the needed info from our results.

Hmm, posted a nice little short story here. Either it didn't take or there aren't supposed to be any replys to this post.

There are no restrictions on replying in the lounge -- actually I think the only place that cannot be replied in, is the FAQ page. I know it has happend to me several times on the Corral, where I have typed up a long detailed message or reply to have it disappear after hitting submit.
Normally I just type my long or important messages in notepad, then copy and paste.
