What laptop are you using?
I want to get a new/used laptop for just use with BE/EA and QH and am curious what you are using. I have a nice Gateway I use with all my tuning stuff now (Diablo CMR/Sniper/BE/EA) but I want something smaller since this is huge. Thanks...!

I just went with a Netbook/tablet. Lenovo s10-3t. Haven't really tried it much since here in SE Pa weather has sucked.

Re: What laptop are you using?
I went with the netbook Asus 1015PEP (I think). It will log an 8 hour trip with a heavy datalog with no problem. It is rated up to 13 hours normal usage. I upgraded to 2gig memory and that extended battery power (less harddrive access). Less than $400, works great.

Re: What laptop are you using?
I used to use a Dell Inspiron 5100 P4 1GB laptop that was top of the line back in 2003. I finally retired it last year for a Toshiba M645 Intel i5 4GB machine. It's better than the old laptop in about every way possible. So far, I'm happy as can be with it. It also helps that I bought it remanufactured for ~$650...30% cheaper than it sells for new.

First-gen MacBook, 2006 vintage, with a 2 GHz Core Duo. It was paid for. The battery is toast - I have to fire up the inverter to datalog, and if the power to the inverter goes out, the laptop dies.

Re: What laptop are you using?
Have you looked on eBay for replacement batteries? I'm betting you could buy a new replacement for ~$30-40. It would be worth that much to me just to have the reliability of datalogging without the computer dieing at the blip of the inverter even if the battery didn't last 10 minutes.Chucko wrote:First-gen MacBook, 2006 vintage, with a 2 GHz Core Duo. Or are those MacBooks like the iPhones in that you can't replace the battery?

Re: What laptop are you using?
Im using the Asus Eee Netbook. It only has 1gb RAM. It seems to keep up just fine. Battery life is not to great. But I dont take really long trips.

You can ALWAYS replace the battery. The question is do you want to risk it lol.
I'm using a Gateway T-6345U and love it, it's a great little laptop that is strong enough for anything i throw at it, and is nice and lightweight.

Re: What laptop are you using?
One thing nice about netbooks is you can get a mount and have it secured in the car, rather then sitting in the seat.
Company called Ram something carries some nice ones to mount to a seat bolt and has a flexible arm.

Re: What laptop are you using?
Apple still sells the batteries. My wife bought one last week for her (slightly newer) MacBook, same exact battery.cgrey8 wrote:Have you looked on eBay for replacement batteries? I'm not going to worry about it, unless BE gets a makeover that doesn't spin the fans to "cleared for takeoff" levels when datalogging. Like I said: it's paid for.

Re: What laptop are you using?
I might check out an Asus since they are pretty inexpensive. I wish I had kept my old IBM it was perfect for what I need but I needed $$ at the time.
