Stupid question...How do I do the "quote thing"?

I have been trying to do this for like 10 minutes and I have no idea how to show the post, or part of it in a response that I am making in a thread.

I would like to quote what another user said, but I don't know how other than to just cut and paste. I see many peolpe know how to recall the text in a "window" in their response and that is what I would like to learn....

Please help a stupid computer noob....

And to do a quickie version without clicking on the "quote" button, do it this way:

[quote ]stuff you want to quote[/quote ]

*no space after the word quote and before the right hand bracket, just spaced it out so you could see it. Welcome to the wide world of html! :D
