Posting a message...log in

Post by Anaconda » Fri Jan 03, 2003 8:56 pm

Why do I login, and it says "Logout Anaconda" at the top (which looks like I am logged in) and then I have to log in to reply to a message. When I type my stuff, submit, I have to log in again. It's annoying. I tried clicking to save the login info, but that doesn't do anything to help.

Looks like no one answered your question. :-)

At the time I read it, I didn't know the answer. I now have a theory. It appear this BBS has a session timeout. If you don't have any activity for some designated period of time (15 minutes I think) it will log you off.

I've been experiencing this condition when typing my typically long posts. When you hit submit, it will prompt for a log in and your post is lost. When this happend to me I have to click "back" a few times on the browser to find the text for my post, copy it and paste it into a new post. Keep in mind, browsers are a stateless application interface and the server is unaware that you are typing a post.

It is probably a good idea for everyone posting lengthy posts to type and edit their text in Notepad (or the like) then past it into the reply. You can then apply cosmetic attributes such as bold after you paste it.

My 2 cents,

If Daren's suggestion is not the problem, then perhaps you don't have cookies enabled in your browswer. Sounds like it could be a configuration issue.
