EEC-V Modifing vid block without getting code p0602?

This is where the BIN Hackers and definition junkies discuss the inner workings of the EEC code and hardware. General tuning questions do not go here. Only technical/hardware-specific/code questions and discussions belong here.

EEC-V Modifing vid block without getting code p0602?

Post by vengines » Sat Feb 11, 2017 11:05 pm

Hello i have a bin file for a 03 for escape and am setup on the bench to read/write but everytime i change the VID block (value i am changing is the VIN) i get a P0602 programming error. is there a checksum? or something else that has to be changed so i no longer get the code, if i disable the VID block i get a VID block failure code.

Also on a side note i would like to disable PATS in the PCM as well, having a hard time finding info on where the SW is in the bin file to disable it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and included is the original bin i extracted

Thanks

nope the vid block is outside of the rom end address used to calc the checksum

whatever software your using is changing more than just the vin

Ive done some extensive disassembly of the D0AV7 strategy for the exotics, lmk if u need anything

and why are you disabling pats?

Thanks i used hex workshop once then winols which told me i was changing a protected memory but everytime i change the vin it throws the code i was reading a jaguar writeup that said the last byte of the vid block is the checksum?

Pats off just to learn how and to run it on the bench with a emulator and no tranciever for pats

Do you have a definition xdf for this calibration?

Do you have any further information on pats disable memory address or VID block checksum i compare the original to the vin changed and only one byte is changed so theres some type of verification on the vid block.

i might try reflashing with ids and see what it changes first make sure its up to date get a clean bin off the ecu then change one vin digit and then flash it again with the new vin and see what it changes where the checksum is. was hoping some one had run into this before i read about some tuners after a tune leave this code as well but there should be a way to clear it, p0602 is specific to the VID block
