Scaler defenitions and value functions

Post by Cougar281 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 10:35 pm

Does anyone know of a good place to find the definitions, values and value functions for various scalers in the PCM? Some are pretty self explanitory, such as "Number of Knock Sensors" (KNK_SESNORS), but others are less obvious, such as "IMRC Sensor Type" (IMRCSENSHP) and "IMRC Two Position Sensor Switches" (IMRC_TWOPOSN). Obviously, IMRC Sensor type has something to do with telling the PCM what kind of IMRC feedback the PCM should expect. For example, I know the 97/98 Mark VIII uses an IMRC motor with a ground, +12, Reference, PCM input and PCM output. I can only assume it uses the reference voltage to determine the sensor position. The Aviator has a different IMRC motor that only has Ground, +12, PCM input and PCM output, so I assume what the PCM would see would be different. I assume that the "IMRC Sensor Type" scaler would tell the PCM something along the lines of which one of these types of IMRC sensors the PCM is controlling. Assuming that's the case, what value means what type of sensor?

It would be nice to have more information on the various scalers. In the case of the IMRCs, I may at some point want to try to use the Aviator intake, and if I do, I'd probably need to use its motor. I'm just not sure what I'd need to change in the PCM or how.

imrcsenshp isn't the sensor type, its for the position sensor, its the switch scalar to enable or disable it

imrctwoposn is for how many position sensors are present

imrchp is the switch scalar to enable or disable imrc

imrc_type is the scalar for just that, the type of imrc, either electric or vacuum, i think 1 is vac and 2 is electric

Cool, thankss. Where did you learn what the different options for the scalers do? Googling didn't give me anything helpful.

derek fenwick, our resident binary hacker from the uk, he writes down damn good notes explaining exactly what it does so even a non-technical savy lad can put it into perspective
