Hi everyone!
I'm new around here and also in the tuning world.
I have a 1990 5.0 mustang with the usual upgrades: Explorer intake, 24 lb. Injectors, big MAF and TB, etc... Had a chip burned for it but didn't quite work. Car stalls and stutters. So I decided to get into doing this myself. I got a complete engine harness and ECU from a 1996 4.6 mustang and thought I would make that work for my car taking the distributor off and taking advantage of the obd2 possibilities but then I read about the quarter horse.
I'd like to know your opinion whether i should stay with EEC-IV or try to move on to EEC-V with the 4.6 set up.
Either way I'm gonna go with the quarter horse to learn about tuning the EEC

Re: Project '90 Fox 5.0
Not sure how I missed this one TBH.
You'll have to use an explorer crank trigger and timing cover with the 5.0 to run a 4.6 if I'm not mistaken, because like you're aware the 4.6 computer doesn't support a distributor. Another option would be an Explorer 5.0 ECU that supports EDIS already.

1990 Ford Ranger FLH2 conversion. Ford forged/dished pistons, Total Seal file-fit rings, Clevite rod and main bearings, Clevite cam bearings, IHI turbo, Siemens Deka 60lb/hr injectors, Ford slot MAF in custom 3" housing. Moates Quarterhorse with Binary Editor, using the PAAD6 database.
