Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Tuning the 03/04 Mach 1

Post by bad86capri » Thu Jul 28, 2022 11:30 am

So im in process of building a stock 4.6 4v for a mach 1. The engine will be stock except for 01 cobra cams on the intake, which are stock just a little bigger than the factory mach cams, longtube headers and a 90mm lightning MAF. What all is involved in tuning the 4v stuff? I'm used to tuning to foxbody cars. Any help would appreciated!

I have Eaton swapped mach1 engine, and this ecm/strategy is one of the hardest to get working. In my case, big injectors and maf make it difficult. Even terminator has scaled down calibration from factory, and it has only 39 lbs injectors, mine are 54. Your mods are so small, that you should have no problem. Start with original maf.

Im going to follow your advise and start with everything stock except the headers and go from there. im really considering using deciphas FBGIO bin, for one i like tunerpro better than BE and hes done a lot of work to the bin help simplify things a bit.

I think the hardest thing to tune in these cars is the knock sensors without shutting them off in the tune and some of the idle parameters.

My mach has 2 knock sensors that can be tuned.

So after research yesterday ive determined that im going to need to get threaded inserts that adapt m12 to m8 threads to run the newer mach style knock sensors or delete them and shut them off in the tune.

You can turn them off completely and just be very mindful of your timing.
