Hi everyone!
Hey guys and gals! I really don’t know how active this site is anymore but I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m a novice at tuning for sure but have learned a bit in the 3 years I’ve had my Tweecer. I heard this was the place to be for further information as it’s kind of hard with the yahoo group at times, and the reception can be less than stellar. I’ve felt dumb a number of times for just asking a simple question that never even gets answered. Computers are hardly my strong point but I’m great at turning wrenches as I do it for a living. My forever project is my 95 bronco which I’ve had for over 20 years. It’s a mild build: 306 with edelbrock rpm performer heads, shorty headers, bbk throttle body, 25lb injectors, forged internals, and probably a few other things I’ve forgotten in this post. I fabbed a solid axle suspension under her, about 12 inches of lift on 37 inch tires. Built her to be a mud truck but now that I have kids she’s just what my boys call daddy’s big truck and it’s for weekend cruises and just seeing them smile. I have a few questions on a few different scalars in caledit but I’ll save them for a different post in the correct section. Hope to hear from some of y’all soon!

Re: Hi everyone!
Your era vehicle is what a lot of people here have knowledge on. However your EEC's strategy may or may not have a lot of experience. What's your EEC's catch code and strategy?
Another tidbit is a lot of people here generally prefer BinaryEditor over CalEdit/Calcon. It doesn't mean CalEdit is completely useless, but it does have a long history of getting stuff wrong and NOT getting updated frequently. Although I say that having not used or even launched it in well over a decade. I still have my original TwEECer RT, however I haven't used it since the Moates Quarterhorse release, which sadly is now discontinued, while ironically, the TwEECer, I believe is still sold.
Regardless, what exactly is it you are looking to do with your tune that brought you here? Are there specific issues you are trying to figure out and get tuned out? Or are you planning more mods in the future and just want to be prepared for how to tackle them in the tune?

Re: Hi everyone!
Hey Cgrey! My eec is TIP1 but in caledit I use VEX1. My goal is to pick up a little better throttle response, maybe tune the transmission a little more aggressively than I have it now, and really just make sure my tube is done correctly. Plus there are a few scalars that I need clarification on as well as dialing the injectors just right.

Also forgot to add at some point I’d like to cam it and maybe even add a supercharger if I can find one

Re: Hi everyone!
I've heard of VEX1, however I thought that was an EEC catch code, not a strategy. Looking in the strategy.xls, it appears VEX1 is both an EEC catch code and strategy. I wonder if there just wasn't enough info leaked from Ford to associate it to an actual strategy name? Not sure.
Another detail that MIGHT help others here would be the hardware code on the EEC.

Yellow circles show the EEC Catch-code
Black circles show the hardware code
But again, since I'm not familiar with that EEC or the setup, I don't know what its capabilities are. For instance is it Speed Density or MAF? If it's SD, then I'd say the 1st thing you'd want to do is migrate the setup to a MAF setup.
You also insinuated that your trans is computer controlled. What trans is it? Being a truck and presumably 4wd, I'm going to guess E4OD.

Re: Hi everyone!
Good morning! Trans is E4OD, and it’s a ca truck so it’s got the MAF system. TIP1 is the catch code on my ecu, I’m not sure if VEX1 is a ford thing or just a Tweecer/BE thing to be honest, but it’s the strategy I use that closest resembles the TIP1. I’m looking at a picture of my ecu and can’t tell which one would be the hardware code, could it start with any other letters or just sfi or efi? Btw how do I post pictures? All I see that closely resembles that kind of number is SMD-221

Re: Hi everyone!
If you are posting from a PC, you should have an "Attachments" tab right below the Save/Preview/Submit buttons. From there, you can browse your computer for where it is. Depending on how large the picture is, you may have to crop or reduce the picture to get the file size small enough for the forum to accept it.
There are online image resizers on the Internet if you don't have software to do that for you. Just google-search and it should be fairly obvious. Just remember to save the file as something similar, but different than the original. For example something like:
<your_file_name>_resized.jpg
My phone usually takes pics about 3x larger than what I want to post. So reducing the pixel-size 25-33% is often what I go for depending on whether I'm going to post the entire pic or if I've cropped it and the pic is already smaller. The tool I use is Snagit. However it is not a free program anymore. There are other free softwares available. But I don't have any experience with them to make a specific recommendation. For quick-n-dirty picture mods, online resources have usually sufficed.

Re: Hi everyone!
Ok cool deal! Thanks for the info I’ll get on the laptop tonight for sure and resize some. What would the correct forum be for kinda newbie questions? I have a few regarding putting in larger injectors and whether or not I should adjust the breakpoint and or pulse width or leave them stock after adjusting high and low slopes

Re: Hi everyone!
If your questions are for what size injectors you should go with, that would be the hardware forum.
If your question is more related to how to deal with the injectors you've selected within your tune, then that's more of a Tuning question, so post there.
If in doubt, just choose the one that seems to make the most sense. If it needs to be moved, a moderator/admin will move it.
