EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
Hi there, I´m a beginner in this kind of knowledges, I´m going with a new project, ford 460 engine fuel injected, with 42lbs injectors, 90mm TB, and E40D, controlled by a maf Ecu from a truck, planning to go with Edis 8 system too controlled by Megajolt Lite Jr.
Here is the sadest part.
I´m a little confused with the Edis 8 system and Megajolt, cause the Ecu I´m going to run doesn´t have integrated Edis obiously I´m going to run MJ with Edis 8, and I don´t know exactly how to wire it, I think I need a cam angle sensor for injector timing right? and a 36-1 toothed wheel for the Mj to control de Edis 8, and I maked a mistake I think, I bought a set of Ford Racing Spark Plug Wires for male pins, and Ford 4.6 coils pack plugs are different, the question is: can I use other brand coils packs for correct this problem? ie: Dodge, Mitsubishi or Gm coil packs with male pin plugs? am I in the right way? thanks for the help

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
best bet would be to just buy new plug wires, sounds like an easy fix
as for the edis8, i don't know what mj is nor have i ever heard anyone talk about it but if you have a fairly newer ecu with a well broken out def file you should have access to the ignition type scalar to use an edis setup even if the ecu didn't utilize edis stock. theres been quite a few write ups about it and its not too involved

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
wow google search is my friend just found out the info i needed on the megajolt
it is an addon for the megasquirt to use the edis setup, however, its junk compared to oem ford capabilities, megajolt only has 2 inputs, rpm and map sensor or tps, it effectively only has one table; spark advance vs rpm, and a function adder for tps or map sensor which ever you choose to use, but not both.
it'll work and get the job done, won't matter much for all out race engines but it doesn't have anywhere near the flexiblity the stock ford ecu has for spark advance.

Thanks, but the hardest part for me is get Edis 8 system works with and ADA3 ecu without another device, do you have any options that could solve this?

thats an eecV from a 97' truck with a 5.0 (im thinking explorer ecu)???
it does supports edis you just have to find the scalar in there and change it

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
ADA3 is an OBD II EEC IV from a 96 Bronco or F150 with E40D maf, can this be done with this? what is scalar? sorry I´m a begginer.
I found this
A9L computer
Eliminated the distributor and use Ford EDIS ignition. The EEC has code for EDIS and it only required changing three variables in the tune.
HP_CID=1 (CID sensor present)
HP_CIDSEL=1 (CID sensor type, 0=hall, 1=VR)
HP_HIDRES=1 (High Data Rate Electronic Spark Present)
Can it be done with ADA3?
Do I need the cam angle sensor and VR sensor, or just one of them?

thats what im talking about it can be done
im pretty sure you'll need both for the edis wiring, your ecu support edis

Thanks man, I thought this can be done only with A9L family, now I got it, I´m going to finish and post the results with the ADA3

Another question, how to wire up the cam sensor and the crank sensor to the Ecu, and the signals from the Edis module to the Ecu???

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
I don't remember which pin the cam sensor goes to. Somebody should know that though. But the cam sensor will need to be timed similar to the way a distributor does. I don't recall ever reading how that timing is actually performed. If I had to guess, I'd say you need an O-scope to do it. But perhaps there's a clever trick to getting it setup right.
As for the crank sensor, I believe that wires to the EDIS module. Then the EDIS module feeds a PIP signal to the EEC so the EEC can calculate RPM.

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
saw goes to spout
the saw signal for edis is the equivalent to the spout for the tfi
once you change the necessary scalars the ecu will send the correct saw signal instead of spout signal

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
Aparently changing scalars like A9L is not possible with ADA3, but I´m not sure, can anybody help me to solve this? is it possible? does anybody have AGANF definition file to check?

Could somebody help me with a bin file from an AGANF strategy ecu? any would work for me

This isn't one available, perhaps a few of you can band together and split the cost. I have had 2 request in the last two weeks.israelvzla wrote:Could somebody help me with a bin file from an AGANF strategy ecu? any would work for me

Re: EDIS On on a 460 controlled by a Megajolt
Are you talking about strategy file? If it is in that case I thought that, and is there a bin available from an ecc that use aganf strategy, I think I can learn to
Decode the strategy from a bin file, maybe is a joke, but that's my situation, due I'm living in venezuela, each
Venezuelan citizen can only use 400$ per year, thanks to our president hehe, and to
Reach to the amount to pay for a strategy file would be impossible, at least legally
Maybe is something hard what I'm talking about, and maybe
That can make you laught a lot but that's the real world for me.
Another option would be pay that amount a group of members
That need the file.
Another question, what's the best tool I can get to read the bin
From an EEC IV and V?
