Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Review my 94GT startup tune

Post by Scurvy94GT » Wed Mar 30, 2016 10:39 pm

Hey everybody, after reading everything i could on this forum for a few weeks i got myself a QH w/BE to tune my 94 GT mustang with a fresh built engine.
I used decipha's T4M2 base tune and followed his instructions on what to change before startup. I gave it a shot and attatched my Tune. However I have a few questions car details are in my signature.

1)FN 035 Load Scaling Populate the Y-axis with your engines expected peak N/A load values (when not in boost)
-How do I figure out myexpected peak N/A values?

2)Injector slopes and breakpoint
-I used the FRPP 47# G302@39PSI for my injector obtained from the reference tab at efidynotuning.com I have stock rails and regulator at 39PSI. Is this the correct one?
-I could not set the breakpoint to the value in the reference which is .00001444 because it just defaults to 0 so i left it 1.00001444. is that a typo in the reference?

3)Crank PW
-I ended up with .408 19/47 x 304.63(.020 over)/302 =.408 then i multiplied everything in the right hand column in table FN348A?

4)EEC in general
-My car was originally an auto with the WH40 EEC. I swapped in a 99 v6 T5. Can i just use the t4m2 now like i did or do i have to use the auto tune and disable it?
-Iam waiting for a speedcal box from dallas mustang to get the speedo working with the 99 v6 t5.....is there anything important i need to have a working speedo for to start-up or drive the car?

5)I forgot to mention in my signature iam running no EGR or smog pump.

1) Covered in decipha's fuel write up... disconnect charge piping and go ahead and make a WOT pull. You don't have any form of boost... so just get out there and make a pull.

2) Your breakpoint could have different units than the reference. A very small value (1.444e-5) is pretty reasonable. This would be a function of your definition file.

3) Can't provide a great answer here - mine uses cranking lambda. But the math sounds right. If it starts you're fine. If you think it could be better - scale it up by 20% see if it gets better. Do the same in the other direction.

4) If I'm not mistaken you can just disable the automatic control logic though I'm not sure precisely how to do this since I haven't had to do that myself. Working speedometer shouldn't be needed for much provided you have the automatic logic disabled properly... mostly the N/D switch and that sort.

5) Just turn that stuff off in the tune and you're golden. Should be a couple of switches for the systems. Again though, my car doesn't come with smog and EGR disable in FBFG2 is easy (EGR type -> 2)

Thank you for replying, Im really having a hard time wrapping my head around all the information even after reading a few times. That being said, if nobody else replies Im going to go ahead and start my car with what I revised today. (file is attatched)

This is my startup tune, but im going to leave it to what it was set at for now......also i read the fuel write up again and didnt see this covered. I must be missing it somehow.

Pretty sure I figured this out, its measured in an exponent as you wrote which got me thinking that the value provided was just not expressed with that exponent.

I didnt find an answer to this anywhere else but im going to let it buck how ive got it, and ill change it back to what decipha had in t4m2 and try that if i have an issue.

I think ive got this stuff set right, since im running a T5 now it shouldnt matter that my EEC is an auto one if im running the tune on my QH for a t5, and i disabled the 2 switches for EGR and thermactor.
