Paid vs Free CBAZA Strategy file is it worth it.

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Paid vs Free CBAZA Strategy file is it worth it.

Post by Schmetty87 » Fri May 18, 2018 12:05 am

So i've gotten to the point in my tuning experience that i think biting the bullet and getting a paid strategy file might be a good idea but i have a bit of a hangup before taking the plunge.

The hangup is that sailorbob's file won't work with my recently updated version of BE and the core tuning route seems to be quite a bit more pricey unless i read something wrong. I would also have to change to a dongle license which would be nice in the long term but not really all that needed for the amount of tuning im doing right now.

Personally im leaning towards getting the file but based on the cost alone I'd like to know a little bit more about the differences that exist between the free version and the paid one and what benefits i could expect using a paid tune that would justify the expense being that sailorbob isnt an option unless hes updated his files in the last 2 weeks.

Thx in advance for any input this site has been invaluable whilst trying to tune this car

The paid should have more parameters available for tuning.

You need it if the free does not give enough tuning options.

I used free, then SailorBob and finally Corertuning on my CDAN4. I consider Coretuning well worth the money. There are things available in the strategy I could not see before. Also licensed the dongle/token version and just moved to a newer computer. Easy peasy with the dongle.

Yes, you get some $ tied up in all this, but it would have been cheaper just to go with Coretuning out of the gate.

I am curious, what did the coretuning version have, that is missing from sailorbob version?

Well...

I am not going to take the time to compare side by side, but here is what The totals are for Sailor Bob's and Core Tuning.

Sailor Bob
Scalars 598
Functions 321
Tables 88
Total 1007

Core Tuning
Scalars 653
Functions 199
Tables 66
Total 918

For me, Core Tuning worked better. YMMV.
