Will an A9P EEC-IV work with a 1965 Mustang 5.0 efi/C4 auto swap?

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Will an A9P EEC-IV work with a 1965 Mustang 5.0 efi/C4 auto swap?

I started out intending to swap a 5.0efi and T5 into my 1965 Mustang, but due to health issues I can no longer operate a clutch. So I decided to install the C4 auto that is original to the car. But, will the A9P ECM work with the C4 since it's not overdrive?

You may need to wire the neutral/drive switch to the ECM to prevent stalling when you put it in gear

Yes it would work but you would likely need to get it tuned to work with an automatic. All the Foxbody V8 mass air EECs can be set up to work with a manual or automatic. The code is there in all of them just has to be turned on. None of these EECs actually control the automatic transmission. The trans behind the 5.0L in the Foxbodies was strictly mechanical. No electronics in that trans. The only thing the EEC needs to be able to do is handle the engagement into gear for the automatic. The other thing to watch out for is there are some differences in the wiring harness between the manual and automatic.
