Ford Escape EECV - GBK0

Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Ford Escape EECV - GBK0

Post by mrgrime » Mon Nov 25, 2019 2:23 pm

I have a kit car that runs a twin turbo 2001 Ford Escape 3.0 V6 along with an EECV out of a 2005 Escape. The catch code is GBK0 and hardware is MPC-161.

The person who built the car had someone program the EEC for them back in 2009. That person has unfortunately passed away and I would like to have the following conditions corrected in the EEC:

I have another EEC and would like to use it to make a clone of the one in the car, then using the clone, make a bunch of modifications:

1) Clone the in car EEC.
2) The OBD2 Misfire monitor has been turned off and needs to be turned back on
3) The VIN number has been erased and needs to be added back in
4) On an OBD2 scanner it shows the upstream O2s as being turned off (comes up as N/A). These need to be turned back on.
5) It is running rick and the tune needs to be played with
6) There are no downstream 02s. Need to figure out what to do about that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated if any or all of this can be done and what programing tool/person can do it.

First thing to do, is find out if tuning support or a definition is available for that catchcode, as that will dictate tuning software and hardware choices.

Should have a J3 and if so, read the flashed BIN out with a Burn2/FA/FE combo or QH in 256k (EECV Reader / 000000-03FFFF chip and buffer), run thru SAD and export a XDF definition.

If no J3, you will have to utilize a PCM Flash module 21 and get it that way.

SAD wont find 100% everything but you can at least get the addresses to start on mostly. Calculating is common 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,xxxxx values.

Just saying you can find a lot doing that.
Created the XDF's below in my spare time. More to come as time allows. Let me know if you need one.
